No warning for the C-Word?

If there is one bright line rule around here, I thought it was “don’t call another poster a cunt.”

Now, in this particular instance, the post did ring true, but how is it not worthy of a warning. The offender has been here 10 years.

Has Miller ever enforced any pit language rules beyond mod notes? His strike zone may not be by the book but it’s pretty consistent.

He did, recently, when someone admitted that they knew they were breaking the rules. You gotta work hard to get a warning from Miller for language, but it’s possible.

Miller keeps law and order quite well.

Never pick on Miller. It’s totally bad Karma.

I didn’t mean to pick on Miller. I’m fine with no warning, just confused by it. I guess I need to pay closer attention.

Yes he has. I got a warning in the Pit for language.

Because he may let you off with just a warning. But then he goes back into his office and Harris and Wojo take you into the supply room and beat the crap out of you.

Or make you eat Yemana’s soup.

Second offense: You have to drink his coffee.

Ya mean I’m not the only member of this extremely exclusive club?

In the mod note, the offender was reminded that what he said was against the rules, and told not to do it. Open and shut case if you want my opinion.

I’m proud to have been moderated by Miller.

Did either or both of you receive a mod note previously for the same infraction?

Geez, get a clue. If an infraction is so bad that you get warned for it in the Pit, without actually getting banned, you really should fucking know better than to say that.

Say what?

What I meant was, suppose last year you said “fuck you” to another poster in the Pit and got a mod note. Then, this year you did it again and got a warning. I was wondering if Miller was only handing out warnings to repeat offenders.

No, in all my years here, IIRC, one note about editing a quote in the Pit, nothing else.

My very first moderation was from Miller … something about more than twenty “fuck yous” in a paragraph was spammy …

Or overly friendly depending on the exact wording.

Keep track of everyone I’ve given notes to? Man, I don’t got time for that.

Generally speaking, I prefer to give notes over warnings, under the (admittedly generous) assumption that someone breaking a rule has merely forgotten about it in the heat of the moment, and just needs to be reminded. Obviously, there are times when that’s clearly not the case, such as when someone says, “I know this is against the rules, but I’m doing it anyway!” And there are some infractions where the “I forgot what was okay here!” excuse doesn’t really matter. I’m not buying that someone got so angry they forgot that they should not use racial slurs, for example.
