No wonder we haven't caught Osama

Busted I stand. Make it your sig. I fully and wholeheartedly support Osama bin Laden.

BTW Squink, care to notice the OP seems to be ranting about the wording of the whole thing? Or are you trying to assist in the hijack of making this anti-Bush? Granted, not a big hijack as that’s where the OP was headed, but the thread is supposedly about the naming of the whole thing.

Frankly, I hope you’re going for the hijack, as there is a void of threads bitching about the administration. You know, about those risking their lives over there. Or something.

Well, at least I’m not the only doper who is annoyed that the highest ranking law enforcement officer in the country “isn’t concerned” with the whereabouts of the single most prolific mass murderer in American history.

Someone should remind duffer that it wasn’t anyone on the SDMB who proposed pulling American forces off Bin Laden’s trail so they can go fight a Damn Fool War™ in Iraq instead.

Um…have you completely missed the point of the op or have you just gone off the rails entirely?

JonScribe is upset that instead of dedicating more time on the part of our officials to catching Osama, we have people dedicated to thinking of slogans for the selling of a concept.

I honestly don’t know where your replies are coming from Duffer.

Yeah, but what else are they gonna do? Do you have any idea how many bureaucrats are stuffed into Washington DC? They’re paid to do their one little thing, labelled, documented, and ranked. If you want someone to win a war on terror, you have to go the other window. And to the back of the line.

The irony! It burrrrrrrnnnnsssss!

Yeah, I too am struggling to see where you got this from the OP. The complaint is about wasting time renaming their “war on terror”. Whether you agree or disagree with the complaint in the OP is one thing. But how you pulled “I don’t think we should go after Osama” from that is beyond my wildest imagination.

I’ll assume it was an error on your part, or you have a specific post in another thread to quote to back up this claim. The alternative is deliberate dishonesty.

The name-change represents a lack of focus on catching Osama bin Laden by widening the war to be against “violent extremists,” i.e., people defending their homeland against armed invaders (us) and perhaps, in time, people protesting the war, enviornmentalists, etc. The “extremists” are anyone who doesn’t support Bush, and the “violent” is an asasumption from “extremist.”

Ever get irony in your eye, *jayjay

“I don’t know where bin Laden is. I have no idea and really don’t care. It’s not that important. It’s not our priority.”

  • G.W. Bush

“I am truly not that concerned about him.”

  • G.W. Bush, repsonding to a question about bin Laden’s whereabouts,

I thought I already filled out that form, and the last form I filled out was to open a Cinnabon stand in Baghdad. What’s that? The line on the third floor? Okay. Sorry for wasting your time sir.

What’s that? Ma’am? Ooops.

I think it should be “OOPS” - Operation Osama PimpSlap.

You were supposed to give me the yellow copy. You took the whole thing to the third floor. You fucked up. Now you have to start all over. Have a nice day.
