What the fuck? Is a person not allowed to have a simple little rant to blow off steam without people bringing up EVERYTHING she’s done in the past?
Jesus, shut up.
(Not you, IDBB)

Probably not.
Mary, you first.
IDBB I am not trying to bait you. I am just sick and tired of seeing you whine about your job. Many people have tried to help you and you whine, make excuses and pout. One of the excuses you use is "My husband won’t let me go to school. Everytime I read that it makes me want to scream. Buy a backbone.
Guinastasia I didn’t bring up 1/20th of her whining past threads. And at least I wasn’t rude enough to tell her to Shut up. I was only warning others not to waste their time trying to offer help.
She wasn’t really whining about her job, per se, as a customer. OTHER PEOPLE bring up her stuff.
Yes, I agree, I’m sick of it to. But having worked for seven years in customer service, well, I can relate to her story.
And I went to school, I have a degree, and I STILL am having trouble finding a job that isn’t in retail.
A breakfast burrito is normally like $1.99 (IIRC). So he ran back to his store to save a measly 2 bucks. And he really WAS sweating quite a bit because he is a rather heavyset man and it wasn’t really all that hot in the mall (which it can be sometimes).
Hama–I did remain rather Zen during the whole thing. I think that’s part of the reason he got so pissed off. I refused to get upset with him. I refused to let him cow me into giving him the discount sans coupons. I was extremely calm, which I think bothered him.
Fionn–it’s not too late to get a sausage egg and cheese burrito at Sonic. We have a full breakfast menu all day long!
Tinkertoy–nobody offered to help me do anything…nor was I asking for it. Geeze… Am I not allowed to start ONE Pit thread without you jumping all over me?
IDBB
Technically, this wasn’t even about my job. Just a crappy ass “I deserve more cuz I’m SPESHUL” customer, Tinkertoy.
IDBB
I just got the image of the comic book guy in the Simpsons when you described this character.
CreativeMunster–that’s who he kinda reminds me of, too, except the asshat in the OP is black instead of white. But he’s just as annoying. Every time I"ve been to take a survey with his company, he’s been sitting behind the desk eating SOMETHING…pizza, hamburgers, whatever. He’s like the boss who tells everybody else to go out and annoy people to get surveys done.
IDBB
Tinkertoy you dont like her posts, why on earth are you still reading them?
IDBB all I want to say is you handled that situation really well, itsnot your fault hes that forgetful…
Comic Book Guy is not white. He’s yellow-
I stand…er…sit rather, corrected!
IDBB
Just so everybody knows, I held a gun to Tinkertoy’s head, and forced him to read this thread.
Hey, I really don’t like to be as mean as I am about to be, but I agree with Tinkertoy. I hadn’t seen any of IDBB’s previous threads before Tinkertoy linked to them, but it really seems obnoxious and kind of a waste of time to post thread after thread after thread about various specific aspects of your job. If it sucks that bad, get another. I know how hard that can be, but if all you can do on your time off is post your (totally justified) rants, whatever money you’re making is just not worth it! Basically, you need to look at how much time you spend obsessing outside work, and add that to your on-the-clock hours to see whether the paycheck is worth it. Last year I quit two jobs in six months because, although I liked the work in both places (bakeries), I found that on the job issues (with customers at the first, and co-workers and management at the second) were making me miserable at home (and also a bore to those around me—I hadn’t found SDMB yet then). In short, I hate to bump this thread up to the top, but I want to give Tinkertoysome support here.
P.S. IDBB, I hope we meet soon in a more positive (i know, this is the pit, don’t jump on me) thread! Also that you find a new job posthaste!
C’mon. IDBB wasn’t whining about her job in any global sense, she didn’t ask for pity/help/understanding/support or whatever – she just was annoyed by the way some idiot acted today and wanted to blow off steam.
There are dozens of threads in the Pit which are basically griping about someone who has annoyed the Pitter – friends, family, neighbors, coworkers and, yes, customers. How is this thread any different than the others? Why should IDBB’s thread be treated any differently?
He saved 2 bucks on an item normally sold for $1.99? You paid him one cent to consume a breakfast burrito? How exactly do these coupons benefit Sonic?
psssst… *** amore ac studio* - the guy bought TWO breakfast burritos.
Regular price for 2 burritos would have been four bucks. With two dollar off coupons (one per burrito) he saved two dollars.
The moral of the story is that you can make anybody’s statements seem inconsistent by quoting them out of context. Jay Leno makes use of this gag when he interlaces his own questions with previous video interviews of public figures to make them appear to admit to ridiculous claims about their personal lives.
On slashdot, a comment that makes use of this technique is typically modded +5 funny.
If I were a regular customer, and a snotty cashier wouldn’t give me a discount because I’d forgotten my coupons and because she felt like being snotty, I’d be unhappy too.
OK, I won’t.
What really inspired me to write is the thought of breakfast burritos. Mmmmm! Ohio is sadly lacking in this department. There was a place in Denver I got them that I was strongly hoping was a money laundering front, otherwise I have no idea how they stayed in business. But they sure made a good breakfast burrito. Chorizo. Mmm, mmm. Good.
Puhleeze, he was most likely trying to pull a fast one. This is how it works, you get IDBB to give you the product for $0.99, then you actually bring your coupon when IDBB isn’t working and get it AGAIN for $0.99. When IDBB asks you for the coupon, you continually claim to have forgotten it. If she complains about it to her manager, you claim ignorance.
Even if he was sincere, what are the chances he’s going to remember the coupon when he isn’t gonna get a single cent off? He couldn’t remember it TWICE when he was going to get a full buck off the regular price!
Recall, the only person taking a risk here is IDBB, and why should SHE take a risk for HIM? She is guaranteed to get a load of crap from her manager when she counts her drawer.
Zenster has it right, I’ll bend over backwards for you, but not forwards.
