As someone who has worked similar shit jobs (Pizza Hut, grocery store, and the like) in the past, there’s some things I’ve clarified before.
First of all, how does she have a problem with saying Sonic doesn’t suck? It does. Now, if they’d reduce their sodas from 98% ice to 80% like the rest of the world, that would go a long ways toward rectifying that. If they’d start doing free refills like the rest of the planet, that’d be nice, too.
Second, a Sonic in a mall? I thought the whole deal with Sonic in the first place was them being an Olde Tyme drive-up kind of place. That’s just weird.
Third, I think Sonic is more Southern than Mid-Western. The reason being that I’m from Milwaukee, and the first I ever saw them was when I moved to Mississippi. And from what others have said, all the other states have been mentioned.
Fourth, and most importantly, who cares? I don’t mean IDBB’s problems, because, well, assholes are everywhere. I’m thinking more along the lines of coupons.
Three coworkers and I each bought these Domino’s charity cards for Autistic Children (blah blah). They were like $9, and when you buy a pizza you can get a second one free. It’s supposed to be good for 25 uses, and they’re supposed to use a hole punch to take out a number on every single pizza. I use it every time I order from Dominos and, as a sad and lonely bachelor with a decent income and very modest cooking skills, I order pizza A LOT. In the 8 months I’ve had it, I’ve had it punched two times. Count 'em. Two.
When I worked at Pizza Hut, we never actually asked anyone for the coupon. As a matter of fact, the drivers frequently didn’t even know (or care) if someone had used a coupon order when placing the order.
And when I worked at a Kohl’s grocery store (after the evil A&P buyout)…let’s just say I was everyone’s favorite cashier. I was the second fastest, beaten out only by Mark The Coke Fiend who had a remarkable resemblance to Luke Skywalker, and EVERY coupon came off your order. When they instituted the cross-checking system and started rejecting coupons that didn’t match what someone had actually bought, well, that’s what the generic coupon button is for.
I was making $6.00 an hour. You think I’m going to spend my time arguing about coupons with someone I don’t like about something I don’t care about? Fuck that.
