just a simple question that i can not seem to answer. what was Noah’s wife’s name …?? i have not been able to find it anywhere and i figured you guys would know. thanks.
Mrs. Noah
The reason you cannot find it is that she is never named in The Bible.
It’s not mentioned in the Torah. Some Jewish traditions identify her as Na’amah, mentioned earlier in Genesis.
Zev Steinhardt
[Ted “Theodore” Logan]You mean she wasn’t Joan of Arc?[/Ted]
Of the eight people saved aboard the Ark, only the four men were named in the Bible. You have to go to noncanonical tradition to get anywhere with this question. (what Zev said) Same thing with Lot’s wife. But, it was a patriarchal society. Sarah (a named woman!) called her husband, “My Lord.”
All I know about her is what C.M. Bellman said: she brought Noah his booze, never told him to put the tankard down, and let him keep getting drunk.
I bet it was Tina.
Our daughter MilliCal has a Tupperware Noah’s Ark set, and she asked us this very question, since Noah’s Wife is the only other human figure. We always called her Mrs. Noah. I went so far as to look her up, though, and, as indicated above, her name is given in many commentaries as Na’amah.
We’ve got a “Lift-the-Flaps” book of the story of the Ark, too, and this prompted my daughter to ask the names of the wives of Noah’s sons – Ham Shem, and Japheth. As far as I know, no one has ever named them, not even the commentaries. It’s a patriarchal world after all.
Not booze, it was wine (and homemade as well).
Visst, du har rätt…
Nah, Joan of Arc is the patron saint of welding!
