My apartment neighbor above me leaps stomps jumps roll on floor etc so much it is affecting my sanity. She does this about 2 times a a day for an hour each time. She has done it at 4am and 6 am an occasional 11pm
I have mentioned it to land lord 3 times. I was just assuming she would be asked to move as my 3year old and 15 month old were expected to do. They played with their ars in the hall and not above this mans bed who had to sleep in the day time. We were given no warning never asked to be quiet just told to move in a few weeks. I had a lease. I was a single mom because my husband was on a hospital ship off the shores of Vietnam caring for our marines.
I am looking for fair justice in this world. Why are times so fifferent now that people are afraid to manage their own property. I heard it should be written in my lease that I have a right to dwell in my residence in some manner of quietness. No way can I talk to ER at tis point without losing my temper. I will be complaining again when I pay my rent. Is there a note I could write and put on her door as to the law and when it is appropriate to call the police. Thank you. Kat11
Legal advice is best suited to IMHO.

What i’d do…
First complain in writing to the landlord and highlight the applicable portion of your lease that says that.
Next time after that, call the police and notify your landlord, again in writing, of the incident & police involvement.
Keep copies and date everything. You want documentation if you ever need to persue legal action or break your lease.
If I played with my arse in the hall, I’d expect at least a stern reprimand.
This is why I live on the top floor, or make sure the structure between floors is solid concrete. Makes for tolerable apartment living for me. And honestly, if that was all that was happening with the neighbor above me, I’d count my blessings and leave things be. Sounds like she’s exercising.
If you must, leave her a note requesting she keep her exercising within the normal non-quiet times, usually 7-8am to 10-11pm depending on either your municipality or if it’s stipulated in the lease. You can’t expect any more than that, she has a right to enjoy her own living space, too.
Yes you can go to the police about this now and they will from what I’ve heard they will ask you to keep a diary of when and what noises she keeps making then they should do something. Sorry this isn’t that informative it’s just what I have heard off other people. But I would really recommend you talk to the police its breech of the peace when making loud noises at silly times like 4 and 6am.
Does no one talk to each other anymore? Does one really have to go to landlord or police instead of, you know, talking to the neighbor like reasonable people? I am so out of touch.
Kat11, if you spoke to the neighbor first, I withdraw the comment. The story in the OP jusmps straight to “I have mentioned it to land lord 3 times”.
No, people are fearful of the reaction they are going to get when in person. It might be easier if the landlord made all tenants join a local message board of Facebook page, so then residents would more likely communicate with each other.
You never know if a person will end up being a dick about it and if they are, they might retaliate. It’s just easier to do it more anonymously.
Yeah, good luck with that.
Or if they would be the most kind and understanding person you’ve ever met. Assuming the worst seeems to be the standard today.
It’s safer if you’re wrong.
