Maybe not every episode, but Archie usually wore a white button down shirt and black dress pants while Mike typically sported a blue denim-type button down shirt and jeans. I don’t recall Edith or Gloria sticking to the same outfit.
mmm
John Constantine from the TV show always wears a rumpled trenchcoat, too. He also has a loose red tie and leave the top button on his shirt unfastened.
Agreed, and it’s been used as a kind of clue in the new Who seasons: David Tennant tended to wear his brown suit when travelling back in time, and his blue suit in the present or future. Matt Smith may have done something similar with the colors of his bowties, though it doesn’t seem to be as consistent. And recently (staying vague to avoid spoilers), Peter Capaldi switched from his more contemporary outfit to his first, more classic one after plot circumstances made that appropriate.
On “The Big Bang Theory” the guys all wear variations of the same outfit:
Leonard with the hoodie and jacket
Raj with the t-shirt, button-up shirt & sweater vest
Howard with the turtleneck (actually a dickie), button-up shirt, tight colourful jeans and belt buckle
Sheldon with the t-shirt over a long-sleeve shirt
…I always wondered how damn cold it is in California because they’re dressed in so many layers.
Even the girls have their own signature looks: Bernadette with the full skirts and tight knit sweaters and Amy with the long, frumpy skirts, high-necked blouses & cardigans. The only character with a range of outfits is Penny.
My Three Sons similarly, because Fred MacMurray’s contract allowed him to film multiple episodes of his shots all in a group to minimize his studio time.
Bonanza did it so their collection of outdoor/location shots could be used in any given episode.
