Is there a way to find out if one has one? And a way to take care of it?
I got ticketed for lapses in insurance and registration. I’m Li’l Ms. Fully Legal now, but I want to get these things taken care of.
I’ve not had a speeding ticket or anything in like twenty years. I was just broke at the time. (No accidents or speeding, just pulled over for out of date things.)
I’m not sure how things work in Texas. I lived there for a while but didn’t have any problems with the law. What you are talking about around here is not a “non-criminal” warrant if I understand your OP. If you mean you had tickets and didn’t pay them you may have a warrant. The warrant would not be a “non-criminal” warrant, the crime would be contempt of court. Texas might be different but here having no insurance is a very serious charge. Much more serious than speeding with much higher fines and penalties. If you didn’t pay I ticket I would first check with your DMV, you might be suspended. Call your local police department and explain the situation. They should be able to check for you. If you do have a warrant just go in with the bail in hand and post. You’ll get a new court date and be able to tell the judge why you didn’t pay in the first place. You may get your bail back or it may be put towards your fine.
Thanks, Loach. I was trying to think of ways to get out of being arrested if I were willing to pay fines, etc. Or some county website thing to cut court costs if one weren’t a danger to society.
( I don’t think there’s a womanhunt for me, but I’d like to take care of some old stuff.)
The way it works where I work, yes you do get “arrested”. If you walk in with the bail it is pretty painless. It takes about 15 minutes and you are on your way. It is much more embarrassing if it happens when you get stopped for something else. Then there are handcuffs, a trip in the back of a patrol car…
