Multi-answer poll. If you aren’t fond of pets, what are the reasons?

Other: I have no interest at all in having any sort of pet. Animals belong outside and I don’t have any desire to interact with them.
I answered your poll even though I have pets - but my pets are all contained in their tanks, and, once set up, take no more than 5 minutes of attention a day. This is my reason why I can’t stand cats or dogs - too freakin messy, too much time spent on them, and cats give me allergies.
Other (well, except for my cat allergy): we’ve considered getting a dog on a number of occasions, and still might some day, but one of the problems is we spend many weekends away from home. Kenneling the dog every time can get extremely expensive, and while we have friends and family that have offered to take it for a weekend if we get one, we’d quickly wear out our welcome.
My ant farm ants all died in a day. My goldfish all died in a week, my turtle in a month. That was it for me.
I get enough pet contact through neighbors’ and friends’ pets I have to listen to and clean up after.
The main complaint I have is that they are simply underfoot and distracting.
When I go to a pet owner’s house the pet is always the center of attention or calling my friend away from what we’re doing. It’s like when people have the TV on to watch the game while you’re trying to talk or play cards, it’s just so much noise and static in the background atmosphere.
