What kind of bandage was that big square thing on his ear? I’ve never seen anything like it. Not that I’ve seen a lot of ear bandages.

I’m guessing it was a piece of gauze like a 2x2 or a 4x4 folded over and taped in place to protect the spot where the skin had been scraped off by the bullet.

When I had an occipital cyst removed, the bandage looked pretty much like that one, though it as held in place on my head with a fetching headband strip of more gauze.
It is just a 4x4 inch gauze pad wrapped envelope style around the lateral aspect of the auricle. Significant injuries to the musculocutaneous tissue of the auricle tend to result in sustained hemorrhage, and because there was no bleeding through the bandage, it either indicates that this was a superficial laceration, or the injury was packed with petroleum jelly or a coagulant.

And doesn’t stick.
They tape it to me. I think Band-aid brand it is called cushion care.
I can’t figure out how it hung on his ear like that. I guess folding would sandwich the ear. I saw no tape.
