I’ve had a change of scenery at work this week, a very large/urgent/unusual outgoing consignment has seen me torn away from my servers and compilers, and plunged into the wonderfully physical world of warehouse operations; hands on.
In short, I’ve worked like a slave for the last three days, stacking large heavy boxes on pallets - non-stop, something I haven’t done (to this degree)for probably ten years Anyway, at the end of day 1, I was exhausted to the point of hardly being able to walk, I was also very very red in the face and incredibly hot/thirsty - my face also felt sore from having had the sweat constantly wiped off and my skin was almost visibly salty.
Anyway, when I looked in the bathroom mirror on day 2, my face is no longer red, but tanned - I have a suntan on my face, except I haven’t been out in the sun, not even for a minute.
Any ideas what might have happened here? (for the record, the area in which I was working was a steel-lined warehouse with no windows or skylights anywhere near me; the air was hot and the walls were palpably radiating heat (from the sun outside).
Any idea how I got the tan? Is it possible to stimulate the skin to tan by means other than exposure to UV?
