NON-solitaire mahjong!?!!

Does anyone know of a mahjong pc game out there that is not solitaire or one of the 5487593 versions of mahjong solitair we’ve come up with? I’ve been digging and can’t find a single one. This is ridiculous. I’m talking about the 4 player, 136/144 tiled game. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I know where you can find a one- or two-player game but that’s it.

Only mahjong dames it has are solitaire variations. Thank-you though.

Wow, a few really good ones in there. Thanks A LOT

Hoyle board games has one and 2 player versions plus it comes with 50 or so layouts. You can also make your own layouts too.

Oh thank god. I am going to be playing some Mah Jong in a few weeks, and I only play about once a year right now, so having a chance to practice is critical.

I can’t believe I never thought to see if the actual game was online. Most folks just assume it’s that “big stack of tiles you have to find matches to” thing.

My favorite is Four Winds (www.4windsmj.com). And thanks for reminding me of it! Haven’t played it in ages.

I was severly disapointed to discover that after learning mahjong from my asian friends (and playing a cantonese windows 3.1 version) that most games out there were some stupid tile matching rubbish (not that I dont enjoy tile matching games - just don’t call it mahjong!)

I’ve only ever seen one actual Mah Jongg computer game for sale. This was back in the years when games came on 3.5s. Every other game I’ve seen is just tile matching.

I don’t worry about it now, since Mom has moved to Florida and is once again involved in real Mah Jongg games.

I think I had that game. I was excited to get it because I’d played Mah Jongg in the past and now lived far from the friends I played it with.

I was less excited when I won every single game I played. I tried to lose against the computer and couldn’t.

I remember that it had various levels of difficulty represented by various family members. Uncle Chen was the hardest. You could also get help from “The Ancient Spirit Of Mah Jongg”.

Yeah, most “real” mahjong games are not translated. (Maybe they’re not expecting you wacky foreigners to get how it’s played? I guess nobody realized that mahjong is pretty much a tile-based version of gin rummy with some narrower rules and different pointing systems.)

There’s a depressing number of “strip mahjong” games out on the market, including a Neon Genesis Evangelion one made by Gainax. (Then again, I shouldn’t be surprised.)

oooo i have that one, somewhere… now i need to dig it out to play it. Thanks for reminding me too!

Thanks for that link. I’ve wanted to learn how to play real Mah Jong.
