Non-sports movies that make guys weepy

I was watching October Sky the other day and it made me well up,like it always does. It made me realize that when you ask guys what movies make them weepy they almost always respond with sports movies (Field of Dreams, Rudy, etc.), but I assume there are several non-sports movies, like OS that can make it happen as well.

Iron Giant, for sure.

ETA - also other boy-themed kids movies, notably that sadistic motherfucker Old Yeller but including also The Yearling, etc.

Big Fish got my husband, but he had a very complicated relationship with his father.

I agree with October Sky. I’ll add Toy Story 3.

I got a bit choked up during Life Is Beautiful.

When the creepy old man hugs his son in Home Alone

My Life with Michael Keaton. In particular, the scene where his father is shaving his face for him.

E.T. was the only time I saw my father cry until many years later when my mom died.

I’m not a guy, but I’d nominate Second Hand Lions. Very guy oriented in a very good way.

Dirty Dozen when Jim Brown gets killed.

The end of Saving Private Ryan.

The Wrath of Khan

“I have been, and always shall be, your friend.”

Up. It made me cry twice – if you’ve seen the movie, you can probably guess the scenes.

Everyone knows tear ducts are connected to vaginas.

The Jaguar Shark scene in The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou is also acceptable to cry at.

This scene in Toy Story 2. Although I’m not sure how much being a guy has to do with it

When King Kong dies always does it for me. That noble colossus, fighting the biplanes he couldn’t possibly defeat, saving Fay Wray before falling to his death.

Babe. “That’ll do, pig. That’ll do.”

Terminator 2

Schindlers List

“This pin…4 more lives…etc”

Then I must have one that is yet to be discovered.

I might go so far as to say that if a movie doesn’t at some point jerk my tears, it may not be worth watching. Some exceptions, but not many.
