When I start Firefox (e.g., after a crash, which happens all the time), I get the message:
“This version of Firefox is not supported by Norton Confidential,” etc.
I looked to see if any Norton stuff is still on my Mac. I couldn’t find anything (I probably deleted it more than 5 years ago). I looked to see if I had any related extensions. Again, nothing.
Any way I can get rid of this? And why does it still appear?
Thanks for your help!
The uninstall process could have left bits and pieces. As well, Norton, whose programs act similar to viruses, I kid you not. They place “tentacles” around almost everywhere in your system and slow it down measurably. I would look for some 3rd party registry cleaner to begin with. I like Ace Utilities, may not be viable for MAC. Maybe a 3rd party uninstall program which may actually see Norton as still around. Good program for Mac is “Cleanmymac”
Norton itself has a program to remove Norton software from a Mac. If I were you, I’d start with that before getting third-party utilities.
Well, MacOS doesn’t have a registry, but yeah, programs can leave tentacles on a Mac. Startup kexts, etc.
LOL, I have the windows brainwash mind
Thanks for the replies! Do you think Cleammymac could solve this? I’ve thought of giving that a try in the past.
