Possible, since it used to be that we’d signify ‘up yours’ with a finger ‘V’ facing the opposite way to the ‘Victory’ sign (these days it’s the more expressive single digit move).

I seem to recall that in Italy, its a very offensive gesture. Basically if you flash that sign at a man, you’re calling him a cuckold – i.e. that his wife is the dominant one in the relationship, and he hasn’t the balls to leave her. It also has the undertone that his wife is sleeping around, and there’s nothing he can do to stop her.
There’s a problem here… the only Norwegians who seem to believe this is a gesture universally offensive to all Norskies, are writing for Nettavisen and VG :smack:
Precious few Norwegians were tuned in to live coverage of the US Presidential inauguration, and of those, none seem to have been offended with the possible exception of the ones who broke this important story to the world press. Sorry folks, move along, nothing to see here…
