Is anyone watching this on AMC? I can’t decide if I like it or not. I DVR it and when I see it on my watchlist, my first thought is, “should I just delete it?”. But then I watch it and kind of like it. I have not read the book, so I have nothing to compare it to.
I’ve watched 8 episodes so far. I’m also not familiar with the book at all.
I’m enjoying it so far. Generally creepy vibe, and lots of flawed characters that you’re not exactly sure if your rooting for or not. I’m looking forward to the final two episodes.
That said, I will be supremely pissed if it ends with (not really a spoiler but…) them somehow going back in time and all the children are returned and given happy ever after lives
You’re way ahead of me. (So I didn’t look at your spoiler.) I just watched E3 last night. I like creepy and horror (not slasher) so it fits the bill for me. I DO NOT like the looks of Charlie Manx whether he’s old and decrepit or young. He’s just gross. So I think that’s what’s bothering me the whole time.
Yeah, it’s right up my ally too in terms of genre.
And i guess i should clarify - over the weekend I watched the first episode on a whim. I liked it enough that i paid the $4.99 on OnDemand to have access to to all the episodes - thats how i’ve seen 8 when only 3 have “aired”. Now i just need to remember to cancel it after i finish the series so i don’t pay $4.99 a month for AMC premium for the rest of my life.
I wasn’t aware that the series had started, but I loved the novel, and the prequel comic Hill wrote to go with it.
If Manx’s appearance is offputting, they got him exactly right. (The licence plate that gives the book its title came about because somebody compared Manx to Count Orlock.)
I’m letting these stack up on my DVR because it feels like a show that’ll just barely hold my attention, but if I had to wait for the next episode I’d probably just bail. Plus the reviews I’ve seen have been decidedly unkind, but it’s not uncommon that I disagree with those reviewers.
So I’ll wait until all 10 (or whatever) are on my DVR and then I’ll give it a shot. If it ends up being one of my favorite shows, I’m okay not contributing to any ratings for it.
Been watching it weekly and I like it so far. Very creepy without being too gory or violent, and the actress who plays Vic McQueen (The Brat) has been outstanding.
We’re 3 in (like most I assume) and like it -
There is nothing remotely like that in the book, so you are probably safe.
