My dad, a normally sane and rational man, sent me this in an email about “weird stuff” (mostly numerology stuff) about the WTC attacks. Nostradamus apparently predicted:
“In the year of the new century and nine months, >From the sky will come a great King of Terror… The sky will burn at forty-five degrees. Fire approaches the great new
city…”
“In the city of york there will be a great collapse, 2 twin brothers torn apart by chaos while the fortress falls the great leader will succumb third big war will begin when the big city is burning”
NOSTRADAMUS
He said this will be bigger than the previous two. 2001 is the first year of the new century and this is the 9th month. New York is located at the 41st degree Latitude.
Allrighty. Now, it has always previously been my understanding that Nostradamus’s predictions ran along the lines of “in the year twenty oh one, a guy named mike will have a child,” or something like that, so ridiculously general that it would be more weird if his prediction somehow DIDNT come true, or else people today would somehow twist and turn his prediction around so that “a guy named mike will have a child” somehow predicts michael jordan returning to basketball.
Are there any Dopers out there who can shed some light on this Nostradamus predicament? True, False, or Bullshit?

In short, the “Nostradamus quatrain” about the “two brothers torn by chaos” is actually from a paper written by a Canadian college student in the 90s. He made it up to prove just how vague and subjective Nostradamus’ verses were. Plus, the original e-mail also dates the quatrain to the mid-1600s. Funny. Nosty died in the mid-1500s.
Anytime you read anything fishy, go to snopes.com. It’s your friend for the fight against ignorance.
And if you click on the link in my sig file (at least as of this date), you can see the response I send out when I get that e-mail. I encourage everyone to “reply all” to everyone who has received this Nostradamus Hoax by cutting and pasting my response.
