I like a few drinks every once in a while but I don’t get the desire to get falling down stupid drunk.
Also, my face flushes really bad when I drink and it’s not a good look for me. My sinuses give me grief for a few days after too.

I love a good beer and dry wine, and drink casually with meals, but I’m not a big liquor drinker. While I enjoy the taste of alcohol, I don’t particularly enjoy being drunk. I get drunk maybe once every two to three years…can’t stand the lightheadedness and nausea that can come from having too much.
The worst part about it is when I am on a dinner date. I have a prepared speech.
I don’t drink. I have never had an alcohol problem, I don’t have an objection to other people drinking, I am totally fine with you having a glass of wine right now. I just hate the taste.
This is me. I still don’t get “buzzed”, I don’t even know what “buzzed” fees like. I just get sleepy and annoyed.
Then the other person gets annoyed because they *have *to drink, they won’t drink alone, and by not drinking, you’re somehow ruining their evening.
I don’t like the taste and I get just a hot, flushed feeling then I get sleepy. It takes very little to get the flushed feeling and it’s really unpleasant.
I don’t care for anything alcoholic, especially beer, which tastes like dirty socks. And besides, alcohol is a depressant, which I definitely don’t need.
In college when I didn’t drink I got so sick of saying pretty much exactly that every time I was at a party/gathering. “No thanks…no, I just don’t drink…no I don’t care if you drink…no I’m not an alcoholic…no my parents aren’t alcoholics…I just don’t like it that’s all…no really, I just don’t like the taste of beer…yes I can taste the alcohol in a [mixed drink]…no I’m not allergic to alcohol…honestly you can keep asking me, you’re not going to get me to drink a beer…yes, I’ll get high with you it’s not a straight edge thing, I really just don’t like the taste…etc etc etc” after a while I found it was just easier to wait until one of my friends had finished their first beer and carry around the empty for the rest of the night.
Aww, go easy on my pal alcohol. He’s a nice guy.
For me it was always something I could take or leave. I enjoyed a little occasionally but I never missed it if it wasn’t around.
I’ve had to give it up due to health issues, and I really don’t miss it.
It’s all fun and games until his Mexican cousins show up.
Don’t get me started on the Russians…
I’m reading this thread while drunk. Just thought I’d add.
If we were allowed to change quotes, I’d change your  to :faceplant:.
What the OP says is exactly what my sister says about the stuff. She was all happy that she was finally going to try a drink at her 21st birthday party. She said it tasted awful, extremely bitter, and she couldn’t understand how anyone ever liked the stuff. She came home saying she would never drink again.
Well, I certainly hope that you didn’t let her get away with that. I’m sure that you stuck up for alcohol, right? And you admonished her for picking on poor little alcohol like that, and you insisted that how dare she treat alcohol like that when it’s just a poor, misunderstood, picked-on thing!! You did do that, right??
Pull the bartender aside and ask for bitters in club soda or some such. It’ll look like you’re drinking.
Are you sure? Here have a beer! Trust me, you’ll like it.
