…There was a thread (now closed) where the OP had wondered where exactly Springfield was. As I was watching the show Sunday night, I was keeping this thread in mind. The episode from that night (the one guest starring The Who) was the one where the entire town was divided over a new area code being assigned to half of the town. Homer and some others were upset that they were not going to be able to dial some numbers without using the 636 area code because half of the town now used 939. On a lark, I checked the telephone book during the “town meeting” scene. Sure enough, Missouri has the 636 area code! I could find no listing anywhere of a 939 to dispute my finding. By this rationale, the town of Springfield is set in Missouri.
You noticed that that thread was closed. That means then we don’t want further discussion. Get the idea?
The thread was closed because there was no definitive answer. I have found one. Get the idea?
Guess what…
939 is Puerto Rico.
So, Olde Springfield might be in Missouri (despite Grandpa’s anti-Missouri bias), but New Springfield is in Puerto Rico.
Either that’s one HUGE Garbage Wall, or this has, once again, simply obscurred the issue.
You have not. As I stated in the thread, the creators of the show have gone to extraordinary lengths to make Springfield unfindable.
Wanna re-open another closed thread? Go ahead. Make my day.
