Hi to anyone that answers me!!
I will get to the point - My husband likes to smoke pot everyonce in a while and I would like to get pregnant. I am wondering if he smoked say today and we had sex today or tomorrow and I got pregnant during one of those times could it effect the fetus? Also, how long does it stay in the blood stream? I heard it was a couple of weeks. Hope someone can help me…
The smoking of pot by your husband doesn’t cause any noticeable damage to his offspring like structural abnormalities. Nobody can say if there are subtle effects e.g. mild learning diabilities because studies haven’t been structured that way. It is probably not a problem but, who knows?
As for how long it can be detected in the body - it depends on how much and how often one smokes. One joint smoked today is detectable for 3-5 days. Three joints a week will take a couple of weeks to clear. Two or three joints a day can take 11 to 16 weeks to be eliminated from the body. The more body fat you have, the longer it takes. Some people feel that drug tests unfairly discriminate against pot smokers because of this long elimination phenomenon.
Anyway, I wouldn’t worry too much about getting pregnant when your husband has pot in his system. The real problem can be raising a child with someone who can’t stop using long enough to conceive.

I do not smoke or advocate marijuana, but I feel most people should read from sites like this. I have a lot of stupid friends, and thanks to this site I’ve learned how to deal with them when they’re on drugs, and how to tell if what they’re doing is going to kill them shortly.

Have him get a sperm count. I would think it is the only thing that would be effected.

Instead, steal your old man’s pot and send it to me. E-mail me and I’ll send you my address. I guarantee I won’t be getting anyone pregnant and I stopped drinkingover two years ago and today is my first day without cigarettes, so pot is pretty much my reason to live. PLEASE!
