Not for the squeamish.

Yeah. The top 20 torture devices. I’m sure this might have already been posted, but I’m too lazy to search.

However, with all of us sick, twisted, evil dopers, I’m sure some of us will find this as intriguing(sp?) as I did.

Man! How creepy!
It’s unbelievable that this stuff was sanctioned.
Ah well, man’s inhumanity to man and all that.

Now excuse me while I go throw up my Cheerios.

Informative, Interesting, somewhat morbid, but thankfully they didnt put up actual pictured of them being used. If they did, it probably would have gotten you banned.

they should have put the “Thumb Screw” up, thats my personal favorite, simple, effective, and best of all, no bloody mess to clean up afterwords.

Well, that made me feel sick. The ingenuity of people in doing really nasty shit is always beyond my expectations. I mean, i think ive thought of some fairly gruesome things in the torture to death department, but the reality of it all always leaves me feeling unimaginative. And sick. I think the only people who actually deserved to have that stuff used on them are the sicko’s that invented it. Its always interesting how many of them are related to religion.
I think im going to go and hide in a safe place where the people are not going to suspend me by my neck and lower me onto a spike.
’ We have ways of making you talk ’ - its just not quite as funny now.

There’s 20 more reasons to add to the list of why I’m happy I live here, now. Let’s see, that brings the total to… I’m not sure… about 22 or so.

I didn’t really enjoy reading that, so why is it that I could not stop?

Lowellster… probably for the same reasons most people slow down and look at car accidents.

Morbid sense of curiosity.

That was pretty gruesome stuff, Simetra. Thanks for sharing your surfing habits with us.

Not my surfing habits. I got this link in my email this morning from a deranged co-worker. I still thought it was very interesting, if slightly disgusting and a little macabre. I promise that I don’t really condone or enjoy this type of stuff, at least not on any more than an historical curiosity level.

Now I wan’t have to worry about spending too much money buying lunch. >ghhurk!<

Story on the benefits of a public education:
My 12th grade World History teacher spent the better part of one grading period (which covered the Middle Ages) reading wonderfully graphic excerpts from a fascinating little book titled “The History of Torture”.

If the medeival church had put all that effort towards intellectual enlightenment and technological advancement instead of figuring out the best means of inflicting pain, how much further would we be today?

Fortunately all my years of listening to death metal have left me mostly desensitized to stuff like this. Warm meaty ravioli with sticky red sauce and crunch bread mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

NP: Six Feet Under - Maximim Violence

Tygr, I think I know that book - it has a description of what was done to Henry IV’s (of France) assassin, François Ravaillac. One of my professors made us all sick with it one day - it makes what was done to William Wallace in Braveheart look relatively harmless in comparison.

Personally, I think being sawed in half upside down would be worse than the wheel, although I guess you’d die a lot faster from being sawed in two and therefore be in pain for less time. Ugh. How can people think up such horrible things - and actually do them to living creatures? Sickening.

Man, I’ve been desensitized somewhere along the line. It’s horrible, I know that, but I wasn’t really disgusted by it… I need to resensitice myself.
