Not Only Do Mondays Suck

But Monday the 24th is the worst day of the year.

Might be a good idea to call in sick. (Tell the boss you’ve got an eye problem, you just can’t see coming into work.)

I’m calling in scared.

Yes, I’m afraid I won’t be in tomorrow.

Hmm, I was just thinking about whether to pull the ol’ “geez, I’d love to come to work – but with all this snow, I can’t get off my street.” My boss knows where I live – a steep street in a very hilly neighborhood. It almost always takes me a day longer than anyone else to get out after a bad snowstorm.

Frankly, if I’m going to be depressed, I’d rather do it in the comfort of my own home.

Eerie that I didn’t see this post before I wrote my funky one.

Oh, great, and I start my new position tomorrow.

Hmm, so do I. I got a promotion that goes into effect tomorrow.

Wouldn’t that be calling in well?

I read the thread title as “Not Only Do Monkeys Suck,” and had to click to find out exactly why monkeys suck.

The irony of your user name floors me.

So far, this day is disturbingly not bad, though. I’m waiting for the crap to hit the fan…

Huh. I’m in a fine mood, probably because of the sunny morning.

I call in well all the time … as in “Well, I don’t think I’ll be coming in today.”

I had such a hard time getting out of bed this morning, and I guess now I know why! And miraculously, it had nothing to do with staying up too late last night.

It’s January 24th, Professor… I don’t think we can do that test today, everyone’s too depressed.

is oddly cheerful and bouncy today

Ahhh … Where’s your sense of adventure? Don’t you know why we sould take a few risks in our life?

"Life’s journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body,
but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting, “Holy crap … What a ride!” [Author Unknown]

… Yeah. Me, too. I’m not only calling in scared, I’m hiding out under the bed till this is all over.

Or, in the words of Greg Brown:

“It look like February 19th and November 8th
They had an ugly little baby and they’re gonna call it Today
Ah my face feel like clay every time I try to grin
And I think I might cry if I try to grin again”

Today is my first day back to work since November 2nd.

I feel quite crappy, but have made it through half a day so far.

Makes me feel better that it’s an “official crappy day”, so I don’t feel alone.

I have a feeling by Friday the whatever date that is, will be much, much worse.

how weird. i started feelin sick around friday. today, i went to school but left an hour later because i was feelin so bad. maybe it really is the worst day of the year…

I came in this morning to find there had been a power outage in my building 15 minutes before I arrived.

My Server room was silent.

My UPS backups had shut the servers down gracefully, but even so, one of my back-up file servers did not survive. (Lost one drive in the RAID5 array. I have a spare drive, so I can re-build relatively easy.)

Not a mainline machine, and not catastrophic, but I did NOT need more stuff to do.

Well, either my meds have totally crapped out on me, or I forgot to take them this morning. Thankfully, I was able to schedule an appointment to see the doc tomorrow, so with luck, I’ll get it sorted out tomorrow. Good news was that Pete was late to work this morning, so I didn’t have to put up with him as long as I usually do.

Not me. God damned maintenance workers woke me up at 11:00 with a leafblower. A leafblower. In JANUARY. PNW winters are mild but not *that *mild.

Bastards. I’ve had a headache ever since. Not to mention the vertigo I had this morning before going to bed in the first place.

With most of the day gone, I have to say…these forecasters are astonishing accurate.
