Personally, I love the Mach 3 Turbo. The vibration isn’t just a gimmick for me – I truly get a closer shave with it. I know it’s not an electric – I haven’t used an electric in years because I found it was just too irritating. But just as important as the razor, if not more so, is finding a brand and type of shaving cream/lotion that works best for you. Edge Sensitive works best for me, although the new cooling sensation gel is good stuff, too.
One thing I’ve found with razors and shaving cream is don’t be brand loyal. Always try something new until you find what works best for you.
Candid, I used to have this exact same fear for a long time. It wasn’t until my senior year of high school that I said, to hell with this, I gotta try it.
That said, I’ve used an electric razor maybe three times in the past 16 years. And that was out of necessity because I didn’t have my own razor with me. Believe it or not, it’s quite hard, IMO, to cut yourself with a razor. I rarely do, and when it happens, it’s such a small nick, I usually don’t even notice it until I’ve already rinsed off. I’ve also found it’s better for me to shave in the shower – yeah, it wastes more water, but with the steam and all, I tend to get a better shave that way.
I have a philishave which is more than satisfactory. When my skin is damp my hair seems to stick out more so I shave after washing. It means having to drag the shaver around but when the face dries and the hair goes back in the shave is as close as a …wet shave (ha get it?)
One of the best things about shaving is not shaving for a few days.
Then you can put on grungy clothes, muss up your hair, and walk around staring at the ground and mumbling to yourself. It’s amazing how fast people will clear a path for you.
