I just noticed that I’ve hit the 9,000 post mark – my last two posts were an analysis of Jersey Diamond and her husband’s spirituality and their stance on issues in response to a question from iampunha and a comment on literary quality answering a post by Esprix, both as it happens in the Pit.
I’d like to think that in the course of those 9,000 posts, I’ve done some good in fighting ignorance, helping my fellow man, and perhaps causing people to rethink their views about the strange subject of religion and its place in their lives.
I know that, more than almost anybody else I can think of, this board has been a major positive force in my own life, benefitting me with friends across the country and the planet and rewarding me in ways both tangible and in the sharing of spirit.
Thank you all for being who you are. I rejoice in being a Doper, and I wanted to take this post to say that you’re all pretty terrific people!
I just passed 6K myself - it kinda snuck up on me. And I concur regarding the terrific-ness of this community! I’m so happy I happened upon this site almost 3 years ago. I’ve had tons of laughs, a few tears, fewer misunderstandings, and a grand old time.
Plus some people sent me chocolate - how cool is that??
I love this place!
4K here, love’n every minute of it!
Poly, you have helped me see how to correlate my own Christianity with the facts of the real world.
Faith is faith. Facts is facts. They can coexist.
And arguing does nobody any good. A debate needs level heads on all sides. Doesn’t always happen around here, regardless of subject being discussed or side taken. That’s why it’s nice to read people like you and some of the friendly atheists.
Kudos to you!
I rejoice that you’re a Doper too.
As do many others I’m sure.
Well done Poly, we love ya
And ya couldn’t’ve waited until the big 10K to say all this? Geez, what a slacker.
Poly, I feel honored to know you, even if your sense of humor is even lower than my own. May the Lord bless you, now and always.
