"Not since Hitler has a person embodied all the signs of the Antichrist like Donald Trump", any actual truth to this?

The use of the term ‘antichrist’/‘spirit of the antichrist’ is only in books of John. Revelation speaks of Satan, the beast, the second beast, and the false prophet and some other baddies, Daniel has the abomination that causes desolation (which may be the same as what is in Rev). Overall what is said about the antichrist more like christ deniers who go out to deceive the believers, and thus the warning John gives not to be swayed, though again there is the line that ‘the’ antichrist is coming as many antichrist have already come, so is there ‘the’ antichrist that is above the others - it could be taken that way. The ruling class of the satanic kingdom seem to be from Revelation and Daniel.

No disrespect here, but the view from scriptures is that your efforts as a non-believer are overall not really helpful in the grand scheme of things, while your brother’s are, presumably because God, through the Holy Spirit takes his good intentions to heart and follows up to turn what he does for the good. So from the outside it may seem like you and your brother are not far apart in this respect, however the ‘butterfly effect’ multiplies his efforts while yours gets lost in the winds of time and space.

It’s not exactly my view, but I do know that it is a commonly held believe. In my own view, God is Love and also God is indivisible. Therefor wherever there is selfless love shown that is God also acting, thus yes you can make a difference just like your brother can. Thus it is selfless love that is what is required for God to work through us, belief has to do with salvation.

They are/where gold diggers, and he’s a con man.

I don’t get this.

I am a good person
My brother is a good person.

He stands to gain access to heaven
I do not.

Why not? Is it simply because I have heard this Jesus guy existed but doubt his divinity? Can a good atheist enter heaven? The rules are very unclear.

Where there’s a Will, there’s a way… as long as the prenup is generous enough.

The rules are pretty clear:

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not from you; it is the gift of God
it is not from works, so no one may boast.

Ephesians Chapter 2, verses 8 and 9.

But… god did not give me the gift of faith.

He gave me non-faith.

IMHO I’ll tell you how I believe it may play out, at/right before the moment of death, Jesus will come and offer salvation. Those who have done the work of God will be able to hear his voice (those who have acted in selfish love), and will absolutely then know who Jesus is. There will be a choice to make, to go with Jesus or stay with their body which will die. For this, as you describe it (again this is my understanding though faith), you and your brother have the same options. There are more details like what happens if one choses to stay with one’s body, but basically if one have had God working though one’s heart they will get this option, if not they will not hear Jesus and decend into death.

Yeah, sorry about that. Eternity of torture for you.

Oops.

Unless your brother is Mormon, he’s also in trouble. Cite.

In point of fact, I’m afraid the Jews were right.

C’mon people, it’s not hard to spot an Antichrist. The Bible explicitly says he will have ten horns (each wearing a crown), seven heads (one wounded), leopard fur, and bear paws.

In all the years between 1945 and today, I’m sure a number of Antichrist candidates have popped up in other countries. The OP and subsequent posts are rather USA-centric.

no worry, you will not be missing much

Why doesn’t anyone keep reading through verse 10?

Anyone who suggests that doing good works is not part of it is not paying attention.

That wasn’t the question I was answering, but I agree that there does seem to be a lack of good works by some supposed Christians.

Exactly. And don’t make me break out James Chapter 2: “Faith without works is dead,” and all that.

The usual answer is that, no matter how good you are, you’re not good enough, as no evil at all is allowed in heaven. And that only by accepting an offer from Jesus to literally remove the evil from you can you make it in. And that the only way you can do that is if you accept that Jesus is God and give him permission to remove the evil.

Being a good person and doing good works is a side effect of this change, not a means to get to heaven by itself. Only God’s grace allows anyone in. This is a point that is constantly repeated in every salvation message I’ve heard of.

Project much? I neither preen nor strut. I don’t need gotchas against Christianity and the bible and religion in general, it does all that without my assistance. But there’s no point in arguing further on issues of faith, for faith is the opposite of reason.
