Prolific book author Amy Krouse Rosenthal was dying of ovarian cancer. She wrote a personal ad for her husband to find a new love after she was gone. (She died today)
Reminds me of the old Marty Robbins’ song “My wingman, my wingman, my wife”.
Wonderful.
I’m not sure which I find more bizarre: The fact that she did this, or the fact that I consider that bizarre itself.
Reminds me of the time my ex wrote a personal ad for me, back in the 80s. Not at the end of our relationship, but closer to the beginning. I even met one of the guys who answered the ad. Yes, bizarre.
One of my church youth advisers had his wife die of cancer. He still had two young daughters and his wife had urged him to find someone to help raise them up.
People process these things differently. I don’t find it bizarre at all.
Neither do I. If you love deeply, then the happiness of your partner matters more than anything else.
He sounds like quite a guy, and she sounds like she was an extraordinary woman.
Both the personal ad and the obituary brought me to tears. Of course… I’m at that age where I cry at the sound of a leaf rustling. :o
“If you like Pina Coladas…”
Very moving and brave.
