Polanski agreed to a standard plea deal and met all the terms of the plea, same as Luke. An unethical judge then got word out that upon final sentencing, he was going to disregard the terms of the plea, and sentence him to many years jail.
So, like a sensible person who would have been unethically sentenced without trial, he fled- bad man, but smart man- you or I or Luke would do the same if we had the means.
Luke pleas to lesser charge, accepts charge, counseling, therapy, apology letter on the agreement it will be sealed then expunged. At final sentencing, judge correctly ruled in accordance with plea terms. If he had instead said, fuck the plea, fifty years for you, and Luke were an exchange student who had the means to leave the country before capture, he would have done same.
This is pretty bizarre. You’re giving Polanski a pass on escaping sentencing because he was going to get a harsh punishment? Meanwhile, you are angry this ball player is getting on with his life after his lenient sentence, similar to what Polanski was hoping for.
Another thing I suspect – wouldn’t it be more likely that Heimlich could also have been a victim of molestation himself? Isn’t that often the case with young offenders?
(I also wouldn’t be surprised if that happened to Duggar as well, although I still think he’s a sleaze and an asshole)
Actually if you know about the case, you will know there is absolutely nothing to suggest this- he comes from a huge adoring (Christian!) family.
But its irrelevant, because Luke’s current stance is he did nothing at all to the girl, she is a liar!
A girl who has received absolutely nothing financial from Luke, and there is no clause in the case that states any money he earns in the future goes to her. So if he starts making millions, a child victim will have to testify in court to possibly get restitution.
Vince Neil kills a guy when drunk, part of his sentencing is 2.6 million restitution to family- no such thing here.
And yes those molested are likely to molest others, so this girl is now likely to molest, more likely to have an unstable life, bad relationships, all that, thanks to Luke- her life is over.
And if comparing the two- Polanski’s family was killed in the Holocaust at age nine. Any child psychologist here can confirm that experiencing a trauma like that can greatly skew your sense of right of wrong.
So Luke gets a pass because there is a chance he could have experienced childhood trauma, but Polanski, confirmed, experienced the worst trauma imaginable, but gets no pass- makes sense.
Not quite. People who have been molested are NOT likely to molest others. HOWEVER, those who do molest others are more likely to have been molested at some point in their lives. So no, she’s not going to be a child molestor, and no, her life is not over, provided her family makes sure to get her counseling and such.
I do, however, suspect that Luke was molested at some point. Not just a childhood trauma, though. But this one in particular.
I’m not giving him a pass, merely suggesting an explaination. It’s not JUST a childhood trauma, but a particular childhood trauma.
He may or may not say he did it, but I believe he at least filled the terms of his plea, for the most part. Polanski didn’t fill any of them, just fled the country.
You don’t seem to know jackshit about this kind of thing.
Any child psychologist here can tell you that you are one million percent wrong that molested are not more likely to molest- any abuse sufferers are more likely to do same- period. fact.
And also, Guin dear, your disgust for Polanski is clouding your ability to assess the facts rationally- Polanski fulfilled every single part of his plea deal. same as Luke. He fled when an unethical judge made it known he would not honor the plea deal when sentencing.
I understand when a thread goes to a new page, it is a chore to go to the bottom of the previous page to read the new posts, but it help sometimes to do so when forming a response:
You:
People who have been molested are NOT likely to molest others. HOWEVER, those who do molest others are more likely to have been molested at some point in their lives.
Helmut, do you know this guy or something? It feels like you have a very personal connection to this case. Are you dating the kid he molested by chance?
That aside you seem to go back and forth on what the worst thing you can do to someone is; kill their parents or molest them. You don’t really seem to mind killing a person due to your belief that he should be beat to death behind a bar just the killing of their parents. Since earning $50k a year playing baseball is too good for this guy how would you feel about him working a Mcjob, doing well, and getting promoted to manager? He’d be earning the same $50k per year but now he’d literally be in charge of a children’s playground and have a staff of people who have to respect him (at least to his face).
I am ok with Luke pitching but giving a sizable portion of his income to his victim- yes, its a win-win, she gest money, and he will have to face opposing fans calling him a molester every night, and face the scorn of his teammates.
Ill end my posting in this thread with the below facts and how they relate to Lukes victim- she’ll be just fine, right?
