Polanski’s 42 days were NOT a punishment sentence, it was for psychiatric evaluation, after which he was to be sentenced. And he did, indeed, plead guilty to having sex with a child which is statutory rape.

No, she is NOT “likely to molest”. Being molested does not make it LIKELY that the victim will be a molester. A lot of molesters (though not all) have been molested but the MAJORITY of victims will NOT molest during their subsequent lifetimes. Yes, a victim is more likely to have relationship problems than someone who isn’t a victim but it’s not written in stone, ESPECIALLY with appropriate counseling. Part of the damage done by sexual abuse is other people viewing the victims as somehow “broken”. Stop contributing to the problem.

And if comparing the two- Polanski’s family was killed in the Holocaust at age nine. Any child psychologist here can confirm that experiencing a trauma like that can greatly skew your sense of right of wrong.

Boo-fucking-hoo - literally millions of people experienced that and DIDN’T grow up to drug and ass-rape 13 year old girls. Polanski wasn’t a 9 year old child when he drugged and ass-raped a 13 year old girl, he was a grown man in his 40’s.

So Luke gets a pass because there is a chance he could have experienced childhood trauma, but Polanski, confirmed, experienced the worst trauma imaginable, but gets no pass- makes sense.

Actually, I think seeing your child murdered in the Holocaust would be the “worst trauma imaginable”. Not to minimize having one’s parents killed, but generally having your kid killed is considered far more painful. In other words, you’re wrong again.

The judge disputed that (literally) to his dying day. Polanski “got word” via a third party who “overheard” the judge talking, which means the conversation may or may not have been about Polanski.

I find it baffling you give Polanski, who committed rape in his 40’s and fled the country to avoid punishment, a pass and get the vapors over Heimlich, who wasn’t even an adult himself at the time and stayed and faced the consequences of his actions.

People who have been molested are NOT likely to molest others. HOWEVER, those who do molest others are more likely to have been molested at some point in their lives.

According to this article in the NY Times, the incident occurred when Heimlich was 15 and his niece was 6. As he is now 23, she would now be 14.
