Nothing But Net: Recordholder?

http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=19683

Eight minutes from first post. Nothing But Net’s got nothing on this one.

A mere oversight, SexNazi was unable to post, just hadn’t changed the member status. I fixed it, for those who care.

Ah, right. Sorry about that.

I loved that thread. It was some of my most inspired writing. Sadly it was closed right after I had made the most convincing arguement in favor of my being a waffle.

I am no longer a waffle.

I am now an omlette.

That is all.

Well, make up your mind and quit waffling

Now, now.

You can’t make a waffle without breaking a few eggs…

:: flees ::

Seems like some of ess-eee-arr-el-eye-en’s sock puppets have been banned after only one or two posts. Sorry, no cite, but he tends to reveal himself so quickly through his self-important writing style that the banning could probably be automated.

What about Jihad, whose very first post, today, was
about how to smuggle opium poppies without detection?

Aw, to heck with it. I think I will just be a bowl of Raisin Bran and leave it at that.

As of right now, “Jihad” is not banned. What business is it of yours anyway?

New posters often make big mistakes here . . . they don’t read the agreement they signed to get here or they misunderstand what we’re about. Often with a little time and redirection they turn into fine members of this group. I’m inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt unless/until they prove themselves unworthy.

Why is this such a deal? We handle situations all day long and for the most part our members are oblivious to our enforcement efforts. It has very little bearing on their everyday experience here except that if we didn’t enforce you’d be knee deep in stupidity and annoyance.

who is getting annoyed over all the second guessing.

Chill, chill.

It’s like Monday-morning quarterbacking or discussing the whys and wherefores of the traffic accident that held everyone up on the way to work. Everyone thinks they know what happened, or how it might have been done better, or at least has some opinion on the subject. We (mostly) don’t mean any harm in our discusions, we’re just gratefull to still be here, and are fascinated by the wreckage that sometimes appears around us.

It’s one of the costs of being in authority, that those who don’t know the whole story will try and make sense of what you’ve done, from our limited perspective. Either you get used to it and ignore it the best you can, while continuing to do the best job you know how, or you let it eat you up and damage your ability to do the job. This is the reason it’s lonely at the top, because you’ve so few peers who know and understand what it is that you do. Having been in your shoes, I wouldn’t take your job on a dare, and I appreciate (along with many, many others) what you do for us.
