Nothing makes an ordinary woman seem beautiful like...

Off topic, but…

Stephen Dunn, my own personal Buddha-esque font of wisdom and truth, says that beauty is “intelligence warmed with generosity” in his poem, “Beautiful Women.” He then goes on to write that women who grow into their beauty are most wondrous. Now I don’t think I’m beautiful, but I have grown into my looks and confidence, so I tend to agree.

I’m not the face-in-crotch type, so the smarts-and-gifts thing works fine with me.

All the women who I think are beautiful all have razor sharp senses or humor. My sisters for instance, they both have extremely high IQ’s and are able to make a witty joke about anything in any situation. Superficially they’re gorgeous but when they start joking around they absolutly sparkle. My younger sister who’s fifteen once sent me an email titled “New Ideas in Yo Momma Jokes: Reviving Life to Early Nineties Trends”, I was in stitches. And once I needed some fabric for a costume cunstruction class and was broke so I called my older sister to help me out, and then she said in perfect seriousness “Don’t worry about it and just tell them you’re making the emporer’s new clothes”, it took me a moment to get that one, but the abilty she had to just immidiatly spout that out on a dime amazed me. I wish I had a sense of humor… And the two NEVER rely on sex humor, everyone knows that’s funny, and therefore sex jokes are too easy to come up with and therefore don’t really take much thought. (However, that comment about Martha’s juices on a quilt made from the sails of the Mayflower made me splurt beer from my nose).

That’s what I think makes a woman beautiful. But I imagine telling jokes is a trait of assertiveness.

What makes a man gorgeous? Its all about the eyelashes. Long eyelashes make me melt. Also a nice laugh. I once went out with a guy who had this laugh that was more like a warm giggle, too bad he had grody ears… Oh, and nice
hygiene is a must. Intelligence is an unspoken given.
