The pictures look awful.
I just saw this too. The video is awful. It looks like a large part of the building is likely to be heavily damaged if not completely lost. Very sad.
Looks like there was some construction being done on one part of the roof. You can see the scaffolding in the first photo:
Terrible news. Hope the fire is quickly put out and nobody gets hurt.
Tragic.
that spire looks like it is going to go down soon.
so very horrible with holy week beginning.
If you give a hunchback a cookie…
Spire has gone.
Norte Dame is Norte Gone.
Well this sucks.
I hope this was indeed an accident but what a huge cultural loss this is. I hope they can rebuild it just like it was.
This is horrible. It was a beautiful building. I imagine it will be repaired but this just awful.
Losing the building is bad enough, but I understand that there are a great number of relics inside, which will probably be lost as well.
Very sad. I hope for no injuries.
theme song :o
Between the height of the (now downed) spire, the width of the building & the flying buttresses, & the scaffolding in place it’s going to be hard to get water on this because aerial platforms will have to be further back than ideal.
How awful. The whole roof was fully involved
“flying water tankers”
So very sad to see the art and history lost.
The last I saw (and I can’t watch because it’s breaking my heart), they are concentrating on getting as much of the portable stuff out as they can. To me this implies that they don’t think they can get the fire out before the building is burned out.
To think of all that beauty and history in ashes is horrible.
We’re all watching here at work and I feel like crying Very sad day, indeed,
Absolutely heartbreaking.
