It was within 1000 votes there for a while, but Bunning has opened up to about 20,000 once the last 10% of the vote started coming in. Still possible, I guess, depending on who is still out, but not looking good.
I am disappointed in my home state. Bunning basically took a whiz on the whole process, and there’s no way he can serve out a six-year term. (Popular rumor: Gov. Ernie Fletcher, whose first year as KY’s first Republican governor in decades has been a disaster leaving him with a 26% approval rating. After Bunning wins, Bunning will resign, Fletcher will resign, and the Lt. Governor will appoint Fletcher to the seat.)
I was just checking out one of the local news stations. They’re reporting that there are people still in line in Miami-Dade, have been waits of up to 6 hours to vote. Also, 90,000 absentee ballots in Dade and 60,000 in Broward may not be counted until Thursday. Just when you thought that it might be Ohio this time. Uggh!
MIAMI The global implications of the U.S. election are undeniable, but international monitors at a polling station in southern Florida said Tuesday that voting procedures being used in the extremely close contest fell short in many ways from the best global practices.
The observers said they had less access to polls than in Kazakhstan, that the electronic voting had fewer fail-safes than in Venezuela, that the ballots were not so simple as in the Republic of Georgia and that no other country had such a complex national election system.
“To be honest, monitoring elections in Serbia a few months ago was much simpler,” said Konrad Olszewski, an election observer stationed in Miami by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.
76% of the vote is in in FL, with a 250,000 vote lead in favor of Bush. Kerry does have one of his big counties (Palm Beach) with only 44% in, but he’s not going to make up 250,000 votes.
Then let me be the first Democrat to welcome our new neoconservative Republican overlords. Hey, I hear Iran and North Korea are chock full 'o people who are hungering for American-Style liberation. With our advanced technology an moral superiority, we could easily win any invasion we launched against them. Also, I’d like to voice my support of a national sales tax as a viable replacement for the current income tax. Clearly, the rich need more money and the poor need less: this will allow the rich to give more of their money to the poor, which will make everyone happier. Jesus will like that! Go Bush! W00T!
Ohio is interesting. 23% reporting, with a 70,000 vote lead for Bush. But Cuyahoga county, a big Kerry source of votes, only have 3% reporting. Kerry has a good shot here.
Well, no surprise there that you won’t accept a Bush win…you’ve been setting this up for months now if it went this way after all. However, where do you get ‘exit polls don’t lie’ from?? I thought exit polls as predictors of the actual outcome had been totally discredited since they were wrong so often. Do you have other data showing that they ‘don’t lie’???
The so what is that the Republicans are cheating their fucking asses off and trying to steal the fucking election AGAIN. Some people need to go to prison over this, starting with Jeb Bush.
The television networks have been using exit polls to accurately project election results for decades. This is the first major election that they haven’t used them. They are extremely accurate.
Show me a paper trail in Florida or I’ll have to assume the results are bogus.
Everybody: the Daily Show special is on. Some of us need a break.
DtC: chill. Accusations without evidence is un-American. It’s the emotions and adrenaline talking. Remember this is GD (although this thread is not so much) and not the Pit.
