Victory!!!

Hey, every small victory, right?..

How many electoral votes does Guam have, again? And did they beat Dixville Notch, NH to the wire reports this time?

 Guam has no votes in the EC. Why do they even have a ballot line for the presidential election?

And the sad thing is that Florida hasn’t stopped being the old Florida.

Huh? The WSU Board of Trustees is part of your partisan ballot. Voting straight ticket also fills in these. If you voted staight ticket as well as punched in the other partisan part of the ballot, you may have voided your ballot!

Dixville Notch? I bet they could use a local chapter of the American Cornhole Association!

And hey, I’ll take any votes. Sure, they are of the non-EC/worthless category, but it’ll help make the final numbers look a weeee bit better, and every bit counts…

Nah.

A) Machine spits out invalid ballots, as the dear old grandma in front of me proved a few times.

B) It was actually the ‘something something judge of something’ or something. Give me dramatic license, won’t you!?

None; and

Of course they would, it’s already November 3 on that side of the International Dateline.

Permit me to note publicly how much I’ve enjoyed reading your most recent posts, Brutus, even when you’ve been full of shit.

Um, you did cast an overvote, you know - that would have invalidated your ballot in Florida in 2000.

Dang it Brutus I thought I had you. But you’re right if you voted for judicial offices plus the partisan ones-that’s fully legit. But take heart that you will not be represented by electors for president.

Drudge

Dear Lucifer, I know I’ve been a horrible Satanist, but please…

I’m quite interested to see what the turn out is. Not just in battleground states, but it seems to be high in states where the EC vote is fait accompli. Bless everyone who votes today, no matter the candidate or the reason. Nothing pulls this country together like contempt for the other guy.

For lunch today I went for a wet burrito in the VIP lounge on Treasure Island. One part of the background conversation (which seemed to generally favor Bush, good to see him carrying the margaritas-at-noon crowd), went like this:

“xxx said that the Kerry people are cleaning up the drunks in downtown St. Pete, giving them a meal and taking them to the polls if they vote for Kerry.”

A :dubious: assertion at this point.

The machine would have spit it back, if I actually did what I originally decribed and selected non-Pubs. I used a bit of artistic license, since I couldn’t rememeber the obscure name of what I was voting for in the non-partisan (pffft) part of the ballot. (Some flavor of judge, apparently.)

I’ll be in the corner, savouring our clear-cut victory in Guam. Who know’s, US Virgin Islands next? Dare we dream of Puerto Rico?

Because of the tattoo? But everyone loves Roman Legionnaires…

Hold on, I have to put Guam back in the fridge. Now I am going to savour the irony of DtC quoting Drudge…

Hmm… The fine print on the ballot I filled out said something like “If you select the straight ticket option, and select an individual candidate that selection will supersede the straight ticket.” In other words, you could pick a straight-ticket option (my ballot even had a “Libertarian” straight ticket :)), and then override that on select candidates.

Oldest political urban legend ever. Every urban environment recycles precisely the same malarkey, only thing changes is the part of town they “reside” in. How much would you have to spend to pay people to perform such a repugnant task, find the targets, get them to a shower, buy them clothes and food, and then have enough to bribe their cooperation with. Your average wino has a jones that demands maintenance, he ain’t waiting till 6 pm, you gotta bring it with you. For what, maybe a hundred votes?

I note with pleasure the corrupting influence of humor on friend Brutus, as do others. Just a few more steps, and he’s ours…

(Don’t think so? In '64, I was an Objectivist Mensa member working for Goldwater. Then I began to chuckle…and here I am.)

Because Kerry will carry Michigan and your slate of electors will not be voting.

According to VNS via MyDD and Kos Kerry leads by 20 in PA, 4 in OH, 3 in FL, 4 in Michigan, 18 in Minn., 9 in Wisc. If early exit polls tend to favor republicans, this looks good for Kerry indeed. Grain of salt and all that.

Hey. Good luck with whomever you elect (…if Kerry you’re gonna need it… heh heh). All elections are mostly an exercise in damage control.

And just to keep check on you guys and make sure everything is up to international standards and such, Denmark has send an official to monitor your election – a communist election official even, long time member of the pro-Soviet Communistic Party. Cheaters will be sent to reeducation camp.

Just thought I’d point out that everyone’s favorite troublemaker, Michael Moore, is collecting stories of voter supression and challenges, complete with color-coded threat levels. Click on the map to read the reports from each state.

Not surprisingly, Ohio, Florida, and Pennsylvania are deep with troublemakers…
