Did you see the “news” story lately? (If I got the link right it’s here: Right Here. If I didn’t, Google “roller coaster” & “john ivers”)
A guy (that would be John Ivers) wanted his own roller coaster, so he built one.
But he lives on a farm. It would be too creepy if he died by getting crushed by a horse. (Catherine the Great reference, even if it wasn’t true.)

I have one in my side yard. Well, it’s not exactly a roller coaster, as it neither rolls nor coasts. Actually it’s a hill, and when it gets dewy, it’s very slippery. That’s how I twisted my ankle. But it’s not the same thing. So, once again, Rue’s been hijacked.
I like steel roller coasters, but not the wooden ones. And if I really did have a roller coaster in my yard, you could all come over and ride it. But I don’t, so if you come over, we’ll just sit and talk and have a snack.
I copy edited a children’s book a few years ago about two boys who build a roller coaster in their back yard–Coaster by Betsy Byars. (It’s out of print now.) I believe things ended tragically for the roller coaster, but I remember thinking what an enchanting idea it was while it lasted.
Yes, but have you seen the Blue Flash? I have! Last month driving to my cousin’s wedding. All of a sudden, we round a bend on U.S. 41, and THERE IT WAS! I had seen threads on it here, I had seen specials on it on tv (local PBS “Inside Indiana” show), but I’d never seen it.
It was incredibly impressive, in a I-have-a-rollercoaster-attached-to-my-barn kind of way.
I LOVE “Across Indiana”. It’s the only thing I miss about Indiana since the move. Is Dave Stoelk still on? I met him once. He’s as nice in real life as he is on TV. And twice as smart.
