Just realized that the orange fuckstick is messing with the lyrics of one of my favorite Gordon Lightfoot songs, The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, which goes through all of the Great Lakes, including Lake Ontario.
My disagreement has been stated in other threads, and I don’t want to hijack this one. So I’ll try to keep this brief.
This is contentious at best. If they’re in Congress, they did win a general. I say the issue is that mainstream Democrats make them the enemy, when socialist policies do actually poll well, and even the term “socialist” is losing its sting. Dems constantly step on their own feet leaning “conservative-lite” then blame the left side of the party. Working with them instead of alienating them would be the better strategy. They’re only a threat because people agree with them and could use the help.
Beyond the rest of this, I can’t help but notice just how uncreative it is. Lake America. Wow. Really took a lot of thought there, huh?
With the Gulf of Mexico, at least they’re replacing a country name with another one (even if it doesn’t make sense). But this is just stupid. They could at least name it for a state or US region.
(Of course, Trump seems to think irritating people is how you get them to come to agree with you. It’s all about humiliation until you comply.)
I seriously think this is all a prelude to his ultimate goal of renaming everything after himself, culminating in renaming the whole country the United States of Trump, which will be bordered by the Gulf of Trump and Lake Trump, and the east and west Trump Oceans. ![]()
Suggest you urge your local oldies radio station to put that one in heavy rotation. Hell, pull out “A Place to Stand, A Place to Grow, Ontari-ari-ari-ohhh!” There’s an earworm that cannot be gotten rid of in a hurry.
I’ll wax nostalgic to be hearing his hit, American Queen, over the air waves again.
I’m mad at the fifty million or so people who voted for Trump. I’m not blaming the other twenty million who had their vote changed to Trump.
Did he sing it as “A mera cune queen”?
Don’t be mad at a Trump voter. They’re in a cult.
They’ve been fed a line, bit and got hooked.
They’re gonna see the light and be sad little puppies.
Complicit government officials that’s another thing. Their Nuremberg will be a sight to see. And Trump, he’ll be dead by that time and these people will crying crocodile tears.
Karma is a cunt…
ETA…oops is that word banned? So sorry if it offends..![]()
And 86 million did not bother to get off the couch and vote at all. So I’m going to give plenty of ire to the 158 million dim-wits who let this happen.
No, for the most part they are not going to “see the light”. They will double down, blame someone else and do the exact same thing again and again.
Your lack of faith in the humaness of people is astounding.
I admit I look at persons and assess their affiliations. I don’t judge immediately. Eventually true colors, show. And, yes I judge.
Individually.
I don’t cotton to judging a whole country of people. I don’t blame the German people for what Hitler did.
Well, you probably know some people who voted for Trump. Do they still support him?
Seriously, they put him in there twice, and so far this term just love the hell out of him. The idea that there will be a change of heart is ludicrous.
Like we are all on the Strait Dope, right?
Just going by geography: Does anybody have an idea about how many people defecate and urinate (for the MAGA minds: shit and piss) daily into Lake America? Well now they have a good reason to do so.
Yep, I came up with the SHAME acronym in my head and was going to proudly post it somewhere until I saw it all over the innerwebs.

That earworm appeared around the time of Expo 67, the marvellous world fair celebrating Canada’s 100th birthday. It haunted me for years!
A really magical moment in my life was visiting Expo 67 on the first evening it opened. Everything was bright and clean and new and the big crowds had not yet arrived. One of the highlights was the American pavilion which was a huge geodesic dome with the fair’s elevated monorail running through the upper part that had actual charred space capsules hanging from the ceiling, and down below were all kinds of props celebrating the legacy of American movies. As the sun set and the lights came on the whole thing was truly a magical wonderland!
Back then, Canada and the US were the best of friends and the American contribution to the fair was much appreciated. The Orange Peril was still many decades away from becoming a would-be dictator, and at the time was still busily engaged in real estate fraud and discriminatory rental policies.
I’m sure many people in Arkansas voted for him. But in my small sphere, I know no one. (I have limited contact outside my immediate family)
I don’t necessarily ask people their political leanings. If it was thrown in my face, by attire or words I would walk away. Don’t got it in me to fight folks anymore.
