Now that Elon Musk has bought Twitter - now the Pit edition (Part 1)

Countdown to another complaint about all the “mean girls” starts . . . NOW!

…The threats were serious enough for a senior Secret Service agent to investigate. He contacted Twitter to get subscriber data on the user in February. After the investigator obtained the tweeter’s phone number, he spoke to the man, who admitted to making threats towards President Obama.

Despite the possible danger to a former president, and Twitter’s knowledge of the offending tweets, the user remains online today…

But you’re banned from Twitter if you dare to mention publicly available information from FAA-mandated transmissions about where Elmo’s private jet is currently located.

Name them. And let’s distinguish ‘lies’ from ‘we disagree, and told you you are wrong, so if you keep sayingnit, it’s a lie’.

Cites, please.

Allow me to introduce Maserschmidt’s Law: As an SDMB discussion grows longer, the probability of people posting about Sam being a liar approaches one.

Take it to the Sam thread maybe?

It doesn’t matter because they’ve been shoved in your face OVER and OVER again. But okay, fine.

How about here for starters, where you got caught, I called you out, and you ignored it?

Same thread:

Those are just a couple of lies I caught you on in one thread. It’s the tip of the iceberg. You’re pathological.

It’s like watching Dahmer criticize somebody’s diet.

For the sake of posterity, I think it’s critical to remind anyone reading of the shit he’s pulled. And this is the Pit, it’s the place for it.

Musk’s biggest sycophant on this board deserves a bit of attention to point out the context of his posts in the Pit thread on Musk.

lol posterity, this thread is approaching 5000 posts, and I promise you nobody is ever coming back and reading the whole thing.

My bubble has been burst.

Yeah, but he’s just getting riled up because Chingon was getting a little jab in. And then you’re getting riled up because he got riled up.

I think the thread was going pretty well before all that. Sam had backed off his more outrageous claims, and was letting us get in swipes on Musk without having to defend him.

It’s nice when the thread stays on topic, is all. Cheers.

He could be lying about that. He may actually think getting caught lying makes him look better. In which case lying about lying is cruise control to cool.

Yersh, just forget this hijack. I dropped in here to drop an actual factual link about what Musk is up to, without making any judgments whatsoever other than I thought it was doubtful to work. And as usual, I got dragged into another cesspool.

Go back to your Musk dragging. I’ll stay out.

Maybe you want this discussion?

Even cannibals gotta watch the carbs.

So last night I sit down for my weekly dose of Real Time with Bill Maher, because it’s Friday and it’s what I do on Friday. And his guest for the one-on-one interview at the start of the show turns out to be none other than our beloved Elmo.

That interview shifted my world-view a bit. No, it did not in the slightest change the contempt with which I regard Elmo. It did, however, give me one more thing to dislike about Maher. I’ve spent time on this board defending Maher and I still think he’s a net positive, but his fawning over Elmo was pathetic. I mean, a host should be reasonably respectful of their guests or they soon wouldn’t have any guests, but Maher is just an over-the-top fanboi and has said as much before.

For his part, Elmo droned on about how he’s not at all a conservative (just look at how he’s single-handedly saving the environment!) and about the incredible importance of free speech. Funny how Elmo forgot to mention how he banned mainstream journalists from Twitter, or drove away respected public broadcasters like NPR and CBC by falsely labeling them “state media”. Also, incidentally, things are going incredibly well at Twitter now that Elmo, in his genius, saved it from bankruptcy and restored Free Speech. At least, according to Elmo.

Elmo is an oblivious, shameless hypocrite and first-rate asshole and he proves it every time he opens his mouth.

At best, the co-founder of PayPal is trying to make lightning strike twice in the same place.

At worst, the co-founder of PayPal and founder (I assume?) of Space-X and Tesla is floundering on his new acquisition and is desperately casting to his past to see if he can make shinola out of shit.

Oh, I have no doubt that it can be worse than that.

I am of a generous mood this beautiful San Antonio morn.

I felt the same way. Not a single tough question, or a challenge to his behavior as owner of twitter, and a lot of other things. People are complicated, I get that. Musk isn’t all bad, but nor is he the perfect techogenius.

With most guests, Maher can say “I admire this about you, but you lose me when you say that.” He couldn’t do that with Musk for some reason.

Musk came across as inarticulate and as a noncritical consumer of a lot of right wing talking points. I don’t believe, for example, that the only thing high school students in the Bay Area were taught about George Washington was that he was a slave owner.
