The link which @ShadowFacts shared in post #430 seems to suggest that a severance package of 60 days’ worth of pay can be provided in lieu of the 60-day notice, and remain in compliance of the law:

However, note that Elon did not say that he did this.
At least one suit has been filed already, I am pretty sure that we will see who is telling the truth shortly.
I’m not sure what you’re looking at, but in Elon’s tweet, which @Sam_Stone included in post #437, Musk said:
Whether Musk and Twitter actually did this is another question.
Lol, that final sentence was going to be my response. And if the offer was “50% more cash for fewer legally-mandated benefits”, then, yeah, that’s not going to work.
However, you’re right - I completely misread the quote. I blame the buffalo wings.
He should put Hank Green in charge. Hank Green has a record of creating successful internet companies.
Problem is, the Greens Brothers are uninterested in working for any more companies that actually earn profits. Their new businesses are all non-profit charities for “decreasing World Suck.” They even say they aren’t interested in growing their brand.
And, yeah, I didn’t see the info before. Sam’s was the first post I saw, oddly enough.
The letter Elon sent to laid off employees is in the linked article. Sounds like he did give them the required pay and benefits. His claim he gave more than required appears to potentially be bullshit. It looks like they are giving what they have to dependent on the employees location.
In other news, who knew it was so hard to run a SM company?
Elon Musk formally notified Twitter workers they'd been let go in emails, many of which offered different details on what they could expect next.
I know what the news reports are saying.
I just have a hard time believing that a guy so strapped for cash that he’s firing over half of his workforce, coming up with garage-sale ideas on how to raise revenue, and is burning his corporations relationships with their main revenue base, has suddenly decided that hes going to pay 50% more than the legally required minimum to people he will never see again and had no respect for in the first place.
In short: seeing is believing. And we will see what happens in these court cases.
Yeah, I think his claim he is giving them more than required is bullshit. That article I just linked to makes it sound like he is giving them what is legally required. In CA, that is 60 days worth of pay & bennies, in NY is 90 days. He cherry picked NY as “50% more than required” when it is actually 100% of what is required and no more.
Elon’s latest brainfart; “name and shame” companies that refuse to give him money.
Holy shit! I bet GM and all the others are shaking in their boots!
Elon is channeling Mr Pillowguy. Put down the crack pipe!
Holy shit, this is amazing. It’s like a message board flame out by a guy who bought the mb for $44 billion.
Can’t wait for the grand finale flounce!
To be fair, as an advertiser, I would take seriously a nuking threat from a guy who makes exploding cars.
Lol, now I have to wonder… if Elon knows that Tesla #12345 was sold to the IPG exec that canceled their ad buy… could he fuck with their car?
Holy shit! I bet GM and all the others are shaking in their boots!
Yeah, it basically sounds like he plans on giving free advertising to anyone how doesn’t pay for advertising.
Smart business move.

He couldn’t. Maybe an employee could, but does he inspire enough loyalty to get his employees to murder their customers?
Sidebar, please.
What is the significance of Musk going from $20 to $8 in his exchange of tweets with King? I didn’t get it, and haven’t seen anything in the thread to explain it.
“Advertise with us or we will destroy your company” is an amazing sales pitch.

It shows just how capricious all this is. In a single exchange he dropped the price of his most spoken-about idea by 60% just so he could show Stephen King(?) how reasonable he can be.
was there anything specific about $8?
