I enjoy a little Pillage now and then.
I don’t see why both can’t be true. Servers suck, but he has a win-win by forcing people to make accounts as he reduces traffic.
If life pisses down on you bottle it and sell it as lemonade.
When I click on the above Twitter link to Elmo’s announcement – I am not logged in to Twitter and never will be as I have no account and never will – I get neither any content nor an invitation to sign up. What I get is the message “Something went wrong. Try reloading.” And when I reload I get “Something went wrong. Try reloading.” And when I follow the instruction and reload again I get “Something went wrong. Try reloading.”
Agile software quality! Accomplished, no doubt, by Elmo’s crack team of all 1 software developers. There may only be 1 of him, but man, is he agile!
No, you sell it as vitamins.
Yet another DJT grift for the cultists.
lol now I keep getting the error “rate limit exceeded”. I’ve been officially upgraded to being an API! (This is using their own app, not a third-party platform)
Kinda makes sense. You don’t need an API to scrape a website, it just is easier for both parties.
I wonder if that just killed every third-party app this morning.
Apparently, there are now rate limits for scrolling. I cannot confirm as I don’t have a Twitter account. I think that the not paying the bills is starting to have an effect.
It’s been down for me ever since I woke up this morning. No search, no new tweets, just the most agile of silences…
This precedes Musk. I’ve gotten the rate limit message when scrolling through very long things. Rarely. No opinion on if it’s worse now, but the top trending search is currently “rate limited” something, so I guess it is.
It’s fine for me, but I’m logged in. I couldn’t figure out how to log out to try that side of things
Agile things fall apart, agile center cannot hold.
Elmo’s micromanaging at Twitter is absolutely hilarious. The fact that so much of what he’s doing is so stupid or so incompetently implemented is almost beside the point. The real hilarity is that someone of his supposed business stature, as the owner of several major leading-edge businesses where important strategic decisions have to be made all the time, is doing low-level bullshit stuff like setting “read limits” to different categories of Twitter accounts.
It’s a vivid illustration of his pathetic mindset and insecurities. The most important thing to him is not to manage his businesses, but to wield his power in the Twitter community, and show the everyday Twitter users who’s boss.
Ya have to like the admission that the reading of people’s Tweets is not an important part of Twitter’s business model.
Poor Elmo, first they were pillaging his data, now they’re scraping it.
So, twitter is now running on an old Pentium 2 computer in Elmo’s basement?
Hillary’s server or Hunter’s laptop would be an upgrade.
And now it doesn’t work. Twitter is now perfect - I can’t get to it at all, which is probably good for me
Still fine for me. The “For You” section is still full of crapola, but the site seems to work.
