This isn’t a complaint specifically directed at @Dissonance , I’m not flagging anything, or asking a mod to step in, but every time someone types “the Joos” it raises my hackles. Yes, I absolutely get and appreciate the mocking of Eloon and his ilk trying to code (or increasingly these days, not bothering!) their bigotry and prejudices and using homonyms was maybe a clever mock a decade ago, but it’s old. If you want to accuse him of what he’s blatantly doing, do it, especially in the Pit.
This is -stricktly- IMHO as I said earlier, but it’s one of those mocks that can bother those involved, not just the party whose bigotry you’re mocking.

Apology more than accepted, as I didn’t find it deeply offensive, and tried to make clear it wasn’t even truly directed at you, other than being the last person to use it.
As a secular Jew, my feelings towards the words are less that they’re a slur, rather than a old, threadbare running gag that was tiresome years ago, and especially as Musk and others no longer even code their bigotry, hate, and anti-Semitic thoughts, it if anything serves to further obscure their actions.
Thus my not shouting in ATMB, flagging, or asking a mod. And I’ll fully forgive anyone who forgets, slips, etc. I’d just rather bring it up than grit my teeth every time it pops up.

And that, friends, is how to properly respond in the case where you caused unintentional offense to someone based on your word choice. No, “I’m sorry you were offended” non-apology, no “But the first amendment says I can say what a want” defense, no “How dare you call me racist!” turn about. Just a simple apology for not realizing that it was causing offense and promise to avoid doing so in the future.
I still cannot fathom what madness made this woman take that job. Twitter is a dumpster fire run by a lunatic and she very obviously has no autonomy to do anything meaningful. I predicted when Elmo hired her that her days were numbered, and I’m going to further suggest that that number is not very large. The only thing that might keep Yaccarino there longer than she might like is that she’s probably no longer very marketable, although Elmo – perhaps driven by an overdose of ketamine and cocaine – might fire her first.

To be honest, after mulling it over for a bit, I’d probably also take the job.

Sure, most of us might take that job, too, and try to save up as much as possible before Elmo fired us, but most of us aren’t making the estimated $4 million per year that she was making at NBC Universal. Whatever increment and extra incentives she got are unlikely to make a really huge difference in her lifestyle, but working for a psychopath in a dumpster fire might very possibly affect her well-being. Seriously, job satisfaction is a very important part of a healthy life. Not having any real autonomy and having to constantly defend a lunatic boss has to be emotionally draining.
I agree with @wolfpup that after a certain point, the money probably doesn’t matter anymore. Buuuut… if she gets enough money, and wrote in enough of a golden parachute + early termination bonus, it might be one of those “I’ll do it until the contract clears or he fires me and then retire, write the book, and relax.”
At least, that’s what I’d do given the reported 50% bonus to annual pay and the fact that as things stand, I wouldn’t want to be in a Media (NBC Universal) company as things become increasingly fragmented by streaming. And maybe she bought the promises that Musk was going to back off, but if so, it speaks to foolishness rather than pragmatism.
Add in: Try not to get pregnant on her to do list.

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission is suing Elon Musk’s electric vehicle maker Tesla for a pervasive pattern of racial abuse at one of its manufacturing plants and for retaliating against Black employees who complained about the stereotyping, hostility and slurs.
According to the lawsuit filed in federal court in Oakland Thursday, Black employees at Tesla’s Fremont, California facility were routinely subjected to graffiti, swastikas, threats such as “‘kill black people,” and nooses on desks and other equipment, in bathroom stalls, in elevators and on new vehicles on the production line since 2015, the EEOC alleged.
Black employees described racist imagery as “frequent,” “constant,” “a regular thing,” and occurring “too many times to count,” the lawsuit alleged.
Employees who objected to the racial hostility were terminated, transferred or had their job duties changed, according to the lawsuit.
His latest tweet is asking why so many Americans care more about the Ukraine border than our border.
The fact that one of those borders is being bombed and the other is not, has not occurred to him, apparently.
I know that in one of the early threads here about Musk, I said I didn’t hate him, I just thought he could do better.
Well, I take that back. I despise this man.
Elmo is easier to understand once you appreciate that (a) he’s possessed by a deeply entrenched bigotry, (b) he’s a sociopath, and (c) he’s not very bright. He may be a classic idiot savant in certain narrow technical specialties, but he’s not smart in any meaningful sense of the word.
I think someone should force him to watch video after video of the terrible things Russian and Wagner “soldiers” have done. I almost retched when I accidentally caught a brief video of one of these men trying to have sex with a frozen dead body of a woman by eating her frozen vagina.
This is what he’s defending.

I think his lawyers must live on Mylanta. When a client responds to harassment and racism charges with “Black people need to be less thin-skinned” he’s basically throwing the case himself.
That said, Owen Diaz’s lawyers must feel similar. Take the $15M, dude.
