Now that Elon Musk has bought Twitter - now the Pit edition (Part 1)

The link above is an article announcing that Tesla is making it a condition of the sales contract that buyers can’t (re)sell their Cybertruck for a year. Like Ferrari or Ford (with the Ford GT), they supposedly want to discourage flippers.

With all the supply problems, maybe they want them back to repair and sell them, or at least cannibalize their parts.

Hordeing and flipping of first-run hot products is a genuine problem. C.f. professional ticket scalping.

Tesla’s actual problem here is that although Cybertrucks may be first run here soon, I doubt they’re very hot products.

After suffering through the video card market of the past few years, I tip my hat to him and offer a golf clap. Good job on that.

I thought of supply problems as well, but I was thinking it was a way to slow initial demand.

Unions in Europe putting the heat on Elmo’s anti-union/anti-worker stance.

Repair work, painting, shipping, and other unions are backing union representation at Tesla’s plant in Germany. Elmo should be able to easily deal with this situation now that he’s no longer CEO of Xitter or whatXer.

I asked my Tesla-owning coworker if he knew anyone who wanted to buy a Cybertruck. Surprisingly, he said yes - one of our co-engineers. A person I used to believe was of sound mind!

Lol, they posted almost identical posts back to back.

Xitter. (Pronounced, well, your guess won’t be wrong!)

We’re in the (mid-to-long-term) market for an EV, though I’m not keen on buying a Tesla so we’ll end up with something else, I’m 95% sure. However, a coworker of my SO got wind of our interest. Turns out said coworker, who drives a Tesla, is salivating over his chance to buy a Cybertruck. Apparently, if he convinces someone to test-drive a Tesla, he will get $275 off his Cybertruck purchase, or some such thing.

He has therefore asked if we will please test-drive a Tesla so he can get his Cybertruck discount.

I don’t mind doing that, but let’s just say my respect for said coworker, who I have never met and probably never will, is … not high.

Yeah… Let’s see how that works out for him.

Yep. I realize I’ll need to be patient, but I do anticipate seeing how it all works out.

A coworker posted this image in our chat and said it gives him chills. After seeing this picture he thinks people who buy trucks for looks will love it, and the rest of the truck people will want one because it’s highly functional.

ETA: Just realized how far off the Twitter topic this is. But, in my defense, my coworker actually posted a link to a “X (Formerly Twitter)” post with this image, so that’s fair game, right?

“Hi, I’m Johnny Cab, and I’m now resistant to arrows and Tommy guns!”

Folks who dream of a Blade Runner urban hellscape future with them as the slaughter-happy hero are pretty obvious. Pretty pitiful too.

This guy is a Tesla fan from way back. Pretty far left politically. If he dreams of such a future he keeps it deeply under wraps, and it’s far from obvious.

The designer of the DeLorean remembers how that car faced similar criticism.

That’s the first picture of one of those I’ve seen that actually looked pretty cool. They may have made a mistake in producing this thing with stainless steel siding like a refrigerator instead of in gunmetal black.

And the critics were right about that one. If not for the movie, the car would only be an odd, mostly forgotten footnote in history.

You can pretty much tell it’s more about defending the DeLorean for him than actually liking the Cybertruck.
