Now that Elon Musk has bought Twitter - now the Pit edition (Part 1)

Ah, yes, the Santos Maneuver.

Ah yes, the Sammy Davis, Jr defense - many of my best friends are blackJewish

Spoiler warning for anyone thinking about clicking the link to read the story: the context is Elmo was being interviewed by Ben Shapiro. I think I need to go bleach my brain out.

Mr. Beast is showing everyone how Elmo skewed the payout system to make his videos more profitable and the bluecheck gang is not amused.

(If Lucre’s name sounds familiar, it’s because he’s the QAnon booster that Elmo personally unbanned after he posted screencaps from an infamous child porn video.)

There are two kinds of people in Elmo’s economy: winners, who are people that Elmo feels the need to suck up to, and losers, who is everyone else.

Rev Says Desu on the wildly out of whack payment per impression the MrBeast test video got vs. the average Twitter Blue ad sharing payout, how even at the horribly inflated payrate MrBeast got its still less than what YouTube pays per view, and the toxic effect of chasing after impressions for pennies is having on the already toxic cesspool that is Twitter:

Short version: MrBeast got $1 per 593 impressions. Rev got $1 per 170,000 impressions. Twitter Blue users are now no longer (just) chasing clout, they’re chasing impressions by leaving bot-quality comments to boost their impressions.

And for bonus points in the Blue Checkmarks Eating Each Others’ Faces field, here’s Ian Miles Cheong being creepy as hell, and the above-mentioned Lucre responding by being even creepier.

What makes that especially creepy is that it’s an exact dollar amount. It’s not ‘under $300,’ its ‘under $309.’

Overprecise conversion from Malay currency probably. Like Robert Frost’s poem: “And multiples of 1.60934 km to go before I sleep”

Googling reveals that a Malay ringgit is about 21 cents, “less that $309” was probably originally “less than 1500 ringgit”

In summary - blech!

Nevertheless, it’s weird as hell that he’d know that dollar amount, and I’m not adding “what does it cost to buy a child in Malaysia” to my Google history to find out if he’s right.

He got $250,000 for the views on Twitter and he gets more on YT? I picked the wrong fucking career apparently.

Agreed - weird

“I have fixed your doorbell from the ringgit. There is no charge.”

I’m your guy!

A baby’s price can range from about $400 to $7,500, with their value determined by race, skin colour, gender and weight.

$309? Must be the sale price for one of those ‘scratch and dent’ babies.

Only dropped once. As far as you know.

Only one ‘soft spot’!

Hey now, I was dropped on my head when I was less than a day old (no, really, I was). I turned out fine-ish.

I have $309. You still available?

Not to defend ‘influencers’ or ‘content creators’ like MrBeast - as I said earlier one of the things I like about YouTube and why I’m glad I’ve never had a Twitter account is that I only had to click ‘don’t recommend channel’ once on his YouTube and it’s as if MrBeast doesn’t exist - but it at least makes more sense if you think of it like an episode of a TV series that had 150,000,000 viewers making $250,000 in ad revenue. It really isn’t that much, and apart from the stunt value of views generated because it was an Elmo challenge that he clearly artificially boosted the exposure of by making it a not-ad ad that everyone on Twitter couldn’t avoid getting an ‘impression’ of, releasing videos on Twitter doesn’t make business sense for MrBeast, even releases the same video on Twitter and YouTube simultaneously. Any views that are leeched away from YouTube due to being seen on Twitter are hurting his bottom line in terms of ad revenue, even with the grossly inflated ad sharing payout he received in order to try to make Twitter seem competitive - which to his credit MrBeast called out as a facade and ‘prob higher than what you’d experience’. As in 286 times higher than the normal Twitter Blue experiences.

I wonder if he’s actually collected that money, or if it’s sitting in a notional account right now. Xccounting!
