The rule doesn’t cover going the wrong way on a one way or other street or deciding that the median is a lane or other hijinks that don’t involve a fatality, an injury requiring hospitalization, a pedestrian being struck, or an air bag deployment.

They absolutely should be for self-driving vehicles.
I agree with this. Self-driving vehicle companies should be made to report anything that a non-inebriated human driver wouldn’t do, even if it doesn’t result in an accident.
(OK, maybe I’m being optimistic about the capabilities of human drivers here. But local and state DOTs could use that data to make their signage and the like better, which would help both regular and self-driven vehicles in the long run.)
Unless the human riding in the sorta-self-driving car chooses to push a “report this” button, how would the computer know it screwed up? After all, if it knew it was screwing up, it’d wouldn’t be screwing up.
And the mere fact a human switches the car from auto- or semi-auto mode to manual is not proof a mistake is being made. Perhaps the next intended maneuver is one the car simply can’t do, like pull into a drive through.
I have a non-Tesla with fairly good driver assist. It gets switched on and off every mile or so in suburban driving. IMO nearly zero of those switch-offs represent errors by the computer.
Have you had opportunity to observe what (apparently) non-impaired drivers would not do? It is a very short list. I have made some inappropriate moves, though mostly when I determined that they were comparatively low risk.

You don’t look into something if there is literally nothing to look into. It’s not a lead. The “investigation” consists entirely of “Elmo retweeted a post by EndWokeness that said, “Multiple trans people in the area posted on September 9th that “something big will be happening to Charlie Kirk tomorrow”””. There is literally nothing to follow up on. That is the entirety of the “lead”.
