Child rape is child rape. Arguably, the 10yo is worse, even, because
the 10yo would have generally have more awareness of sexuality so would personally feel more violated, IMO, thereby increasing the trauma.

I think he’s saying it’s a bit gross to do any calculus of relative evil, when it comes to baby rape. Which is a perfectly valid stance, and I think I can do that.
Word. I just read over that document and came away amazed at the fucked-upedness of that whole community. I was a toddler during the same time period as when that document was written and I cannot imagine my parents or their social circle tolerating somebody like Breen. The only debate would have been whether to stomp the ever loving shit out of him before turning him over to the police (who in that time and place would almost certainly have given him a beating themselves).
For my own part, Breen was somebody I would cheerfully throw down a flight of steps each and every time he ever came near my kid. MZB too.
All things considered, he might have made the point with a good deal less spittle.
Living in Missouri, I became quite weary hearing Akin blathering on about “legitimate rape.” This thread has already had someone totting up which rapes are more acceptable than other rapes.
Since we’re in the Pit now, a little spittle was worth it if that nastiness gets cut short. Think back to the Sandusky threads with the infamous “paper towel tube” and how great that type of discussion goes.
Heh, I’m totally on your side here. But Mr. Dibble, unlike Ms. Broomstick, hasn’t spent the entire thread arguing that his opinion of Bradley and her husband is dependent upon the age of the children that they raped.

To comment on the main subject of this thread – I had read some stuff by MZB. I thought it was OK-ish. I know, however, that I am not going to be re-reading it; I would feel really bad about it. I would have tremendous difficulties with it.
I guess this is how I am. Another example: I cannot enjoy Wagner’s music. Apart from it being a bit too ponderous for my tastes, knowing the kind of slimy motherfucker he was spoils things for me. I can accept cranky artists, or creators who are (more than) a bit bonkers, or even certain types of criminals (but then, their artistic output has to be AWESOME for me to be able to enjoy it –François Villon, I am looking at you). But someone who had more than a bit of the backstabber in him, who used others to climb and threw them away when they were not needed anymore… I guess I cannot stomach that.
And if I cannot stomach that, imagine stomaching someone who did what MZB did!
Even if I liked clowns, I can’t imagine displaying one of Gacy’s paintings.
