Biden has not. Trump is the one who failed to have the ceremony for his own predecessor. That was Trump.
Biden held the ceremony for the Obamas, who were skipped. Biden’s all good.
The one who follows Biden can have a ceremony for Biden, and if Trump’s portrait never hangs, it will be because he is the one who decided to give the finger to the ceremony.
Biden has not gotten himself into a bind about this, FFS.
(And the best answer was upthread: Ralph Steadman.)
The bind I was referring to concerns the Trumps’ portraits, which Biden would normally oversee the hanging of. It’s hard to see Biden inviting the Trumps back to the White House for a ceremony, which would be the normal thing, but it’s also hard to reconcile that with the “back to normal” vibe he’s trying to send out.
FFS.
The portrait things is so minor, I don’t think it hurts Biden’s “back to normal” efforts.
Why would he? Why should he?
Plausible White House press release:
In view of the pending charges against the former President, this administration will delay any action on presidential portraits until a later date.
“Don’t know if it’s going to be an orange one piece jumpsuit or black and white stripes.”
Getting “back to normal” should include dumping trump.
Dan
if we could bring back any artist from the dead, I’d suggest either Salvatore Dali or Hieronymus Bosch.
Or maybe Francisco Goya during his “Black Paintings” period.
Francis Bacon would have captured his grotesqueness, as well.
For an official photo, how about Joel-Peter Witkin?
(Witkin usually includes corpses or body parts from morgues in his photographs).
Just for shits and giggles, I had an Ai program generate an image of Trump as he would appear in a Jack Chick tract.
Quite an accurate rendering of the neck folds.
I still think Slug should get the concession.
Too bad GG Allin is dead. I could see him making some special artwork with an enema and a large canvas.
