Now that the Olympics are over, what events did you watch?

If I don’t watch curling or bobsled there is no point in watching the Olympics.
I won’t see a second of them for four years.

Wow - what a large vote for curling. When was it on (in the USA)? I DVRed probably about 20 hours of the Olympics and there was not a single second of curling in any of it.

I just about filled a 1TB hard drive with HD curling coverage. Very little room left on the disc for recording Survivor. My wife hates me.

Of course, some of those were 8 hour recordings with 3 hours of curling and 5 hours of hockey. I’m watching and deleting those first. On the other hand, I have no time for watching curling because, hey, American Idol!

I was pretty much glued to the Olympics, alternating between 6 different channels-- English and French language.

The only sport I definitely turned away from is the biathlon. Not interested, weird combination of sports.

wow, speed skating in the lead! I’d never have guessed. Why no distinction between long and short track though? In my experience they’re completely different things and while I watched almost all long track events I watched zero short track, and I can’t say that I ever really have.

ETA: oh, by the way, to all those who came in and freely admitted to having watched the curling events: [Nelson Muntz]Ha Ha![/Nelson Muntz]

I watched bits of curling the last couple of winter olympics until I figured out what exactly they were doing. This year I didn’t manage to catch it, and watch no events at all.

I was watching mostly figure skating, and said I caught some kind of freestyle skiing and snowboarding in addition (other things on, mostly, on the nights I was watching figure skating) – just realized I also saw some luge, because I remember asking a question about it in the “miscellaneous” thread. Oh well.

I watched a good deal of hockey, which was great, because I hadn’t seen much of it since the NHL strike. A very good tournament. I did watch a fair amount of curling because it’s funny and because I wanted to finally understand how the hell the game is played. I get it, but it’s boring. I had to watch some figure skating (some pairs, some womens) because my girlfriend wanted to. She wanted to watch the bobsledding but we didn’t get to see very much of it. I admit Stephen Colbert’s involvement with the speed skating piqued my interest some and it’s one of the more interesting events to watch. I checked out some of the skiing and that was okay. The wipeouts were pretty scary. And I have trouble accepting snowboarding as an Olympic event but it was pretty good.

I did watch some of the opening ceremonies. I wasn’t paying much attention at first but eventually I was won over by the ridiculousness of it all. It’s like the world’s biggest school play and it makes for great accidental comedy.

I watched none. Largely nothing of interest for me.

Whatever NBC showed until about 10-10:30 Eastern (bedtime).

I wished that Figure Skating greats competed earlier in the evening, and got thoroughly tired of the sliding events. I enjoyed the Nordic and Alpine events ( I think).

I watched the last hockey game because my folks enjoyed it.

as this posting date/time, Curling is tied for the lead. Would anyone have predicted that curling would have the most exposure amongst the SDMB one month ago?
