Well, you’ve got to remember they were starting out in the hole.
It was the best they could do given the situation. They weren’t at fault here and they didn’t really have to do anything.
They managed to say “Hey, we want to make it up to you.” without saying “We screwed up”. I think it was well done
and you can bet they had their entire marketing team up for three or four days trying to figure out the best way to say that.
I thought they handled it well. For a giant, ubiquitous corporation, they came across in the commercial as a little humbled and willing to suck it up and pay for a situation that wasn’t their fault. I think it was a good step for them to take.
