You know, you can replace the name “Charelton Heston” and “gun owner” with any other well-known celebrity/politician and their Pet Subject, and it’ll sound the same.
“Al Gore is making every Democrat look like a McCarthy era nutcase.”
“Jesse Jackson is making every black man look like a McCarthy era nutcase.”
“Rush Limbaugh is making every Republican look like a McCarthy era nutcase.”
And you know what? All of four of those statements are equally true.
Well, basically, you’re fucked. There are far too many restrictions on guns and gun ownership already in place. They’ll likely never be removed. I mean, how often does any government repeal it’s laws. That would be tantamount to admitting they’d made an error. And we all know that governments are incapable of error. Just ask a politician, he’ll tell ya.
Well, here I go, bearding the lion (Beering the lion?), but could we get a f’rinstance? That is, what are the poor oppressed Canadians prevented from doing involving guns, due to these odious restrictions?
I mean, I’d like to be more sympathetic towards gun owners, but somehow I’ve managed to get through 46 years without ever having to resort to a gun for any purpose. Lucky for me there are supermarkets, hey?
After watching Junkyard Wars last night, however, I’m thinking a compressed air cannon to go pumpkin chunkin’ wouldn’t be bad. Any restrictions on those?
I, myself, think sometimes Heston goes a little bit overboard. HOWEVER, I would think the majority of gun owners would be more moderate. The media always hypes up the extremes.
I used to work in the same building as NRA Headquarters in Fairfax, VA. They had a cafe and a vending machine room that they let us use. To get to it, we had to walk by their front desk security, who usually just nodded us through. Above this desk were pictures of the current NRA officers, with Chuck Heston high and mighty in the middle.
One day a friend and I were returning from the cafe when he stopped and looked at the pictures. “Y’know,” he said, “for this being the Negro Rifle Association, they don’t have many black leaders.” :D:D
Sounds like your friend is a real witty guy. Real witty.
Anytime a group of individuals will stick together and fight for something that they believe is one of their basic constitutional rights, it is a good thing.
Every child should have a proper handgun. Everyone should be made to carry a gun at all times. The world would be a much safer place. Hell, we wouldn’t even need police then.
“Anytime a group of individuals will stick together and fight for something that they believe is one of their basic constitutional rights, it is a good thing.”
This is just the sort of queenie little liberal ass prancing mincing shit that I am talking about. Once you begin to think that a well regulated militia is just a fucking “right”, we’re on the road to commie fuckin’ lala land. You nellie comsymp fellatio artists who skirt the issue with your lilting “good thing” rhetoric are responsible for us not being able to legally possess fully automatic weapons. Randy? Randy for what, you effeminate dwarf Lippizaner. Come over here and stick to my HK 308.
“Hmmm… My uncles and my cousins, all enthusiastic hunters and gun owners loathe the NRA. They say it just makes the gun
owners look bad, causes more harm than good, and RUINS the arguments of rational gun owners. My cousin, probably
the most conservative guy on the planet, said he can’t stand Charleton Heston. THAT was a shock to me.
But still, the guy’s an idiot. They’re hurting 2nd ammendment rights cause, not helping it.”
If you handgun toting freaks would do your homework rather than polishing your barrels, you might happen upon the knowledge that sport hunters are responsible for the present state of wildlife and wildlands preservation. Lacey, Leopold, Teddy Roosevelt, Pittman, Robertson, all the wildlife scientists and politicians who shaped early efforts at conservation were hunters. Irrespective of their other political beliefs, Guinastasia’s relatives are right to abhor Heston and the NRA.
I’ll say it again: The fucking Second Amendment is NOT why you can own a handgun. It is a privilege, not a right. Handguns are made for killing people. If they were illegal are you telling me that all you paranoid cowboys couldn’t fend off a home invader with your bowie knives or your shotguns? You really are a bunch of pussies.
Yeah, we can still own handguns 'cuz idiots like you are still (thankfully) in the minority.
So’s Speech. Therefore, you are no longer permitted to use the words “the”, “and”, and “zoomdathersberg”.
Damn skippy. The best defense is a good offense. Since guns are the best there is at killing, they are also the best tool for defending your home, family, and livelihood.
With a shotgun? Sure I could. But I have no doubt that shotguns will be banned soon after handguns.
With a knife? Not if the intruder has a gun. I won’t even tolerate the notion of banning legal guns until YOU can ensure that all illegal guns are off the streets.
Well, yes and no. Many of them are made for self-defense which can entail killing. However, there are also many made for target shooting. Here’s one of my favorites. At $500 for a dinky little .22LR caliber with the nicer contour grips, it’s certainly not a cost-effective killing machine, is it? If I only wanted to kill with a handgun, that sonofabitch would be just about my last choice. Again, an uninformed gun control advocate. I really wish you dumbasses would learn something about firearms before trying to label them “evil.”
what i don’t understand is the opposition to gun registration by the nra and their republican puppets. they always say ‘but criminals won’t register their guns!’ that’s exactly the point. if a cop finds an unregistered gun on a person or in a car, he can confiscate it. if the gun is registered to the person holding it, the person gets to keep it, no charge. the only people who won’t register their guns will be the criminals - those who bought them illegally or intend to use them illegally. no, it won’t stop them from buying guns illegally (nothing will), but it will allow cops to confiscate their guns while leaving law abiding gun owners alone.
Umm, that’s flawed logic, zwaldd. Here’s why. Without registration, if a cop finds a known felon with a gun, he can already confiscate it. It’s illegal for convicted felons to most types of guns. Registration is simply unnecessary and does nothing in the case you’ve presented.
Again, goddamit. You fuckers should learn about the guns you wanna outlaw and the laws that are already in place before advocating more. How many times do I need to recommend this course of action. You are displying willful ignorance. Criminy.
take the kids involved in school shootings. or anyone who isn’t a known felon who aquires a gun illegally. with registration you don’t have to wait until someone commits a felony before confiscating the gun. if a cop stops a car and finds a cache of unregistered guns, he can confiscate 'em. if they’re registered to the person in the car, he leaves them alone. fucker - i’m a gun owner and i already know felons can’t have guns. quit spitting out stupid illogic and think past nra rhetoric.
Teenagers involved in school shootings are also not allowed to own handguns. Federal law dictates handguns may be sold only to those 21 years of age and older. Again, registration does nothing for the scenario you present.
If you knew felons weren’t allowed to own firearms, then I don’t understand your previous post. It’s non-sensical. How does registration do anything in this case?
beer, what does registration have to do with felons? registration would make it illegal to posess a gun that cannot be traced to you, regardless of any felony convictions. if you don’t intend to use your gun illegally, register it. you have no reason to not want your gun associated with you. if you don’t want a gun traced to you, don’t register it. if law enforcement finds you in posession of that gun they can confiscate it and arrest you, even if you haven’t killed anyone yet. obviously it won’t prevent all gun related crimes, but it will prevent some without infringing on the right to bear arms. seems worthwhile to me.
