I hate to be the asshole to bring this up but, most of you shitheads claiming to be law-abiding are anything but (oh and don’t fuck w/ my grammer, I’m not in the mood). Those of you that have paid a parking ticket, moving violation, etc have plead GUILTY TO BREAKING THE FUCKING LAW!!!
Now to those of you w/ perfect driving records, let me extend my congratulations as you probably just haven’t been caught yet.
To those who think they don’t fit in either of the above groups, you never jaywalked? never took a little extra deduction on your taxes? do I need to go on?
Almost every one of us (I’ll give you 1000 US adults that haven’t fit any of the above but I doubt any of the owns a gun) is SELECTIVE about which laws we wish to abide by.
slowhand, while the Christian Church teaches that there are no degrees of “sin”, the same cannot be said of “breaking the laws”. The law-breaking you describe are infractions. These are quite different from misdemeanors and felonies. There’s this little thing called “context”, you see.
I daresay that most gun owners (and most other people in the world) have not committed misdemeanors or felonies, and therefore can be referred to as “law abiding citizens”. In context, that’s what a reasonable person would understand.
the nra is full of shit. they don’t give a god damn about our right to keep and bear arms. the second amendment is in the bill of rights - the list of rights we are granted just by being american citizens. as i pointed out in the gd thread, a new, safe, factory packed 357 magnum sells for somewhere in the range of 600 to 800 bucks here in texas where you can pretty much buy any gun you want. i can’t afford that! there’s nothing in the second amendment that says i have to be in a certain tax bracket to buy a gun. and, as the nra says, the second amendment applies to all guns - that includes 357 magnums, assault rifles, over/under shotguns, etc. does the right only apply to the wealthy? what kind of right is that?! notice the nra never fights for legislation that would allow for the aquisition of a gun for those who can’t afford one. what other right in the bill of rights comes at a price? look at miranda rights - i have the right to an attorney and if i can’t afford one, the state will appoint me one, no charge. they’ll appoint me an attorney on their bill, but they won’t buy me a gun? where’s the nra for that? what am i supposed to do when the commies stage a coup - take on the military with my $150 .22 pea shooter? jerks. they should call themselves the national gun industry association.
