NT backup software

Do any of y’all have a recommendation for NT backup software? I’ve been using backup as it comes with NT, and typically run it as I leave on Fridays. But it’s occured to me of late that I’d like to be able to just leave a tape in the drive (I use an Exabyte 8 mm) and have an incremental backup of the day’s work start automatically at midnight every night. Ideas?

Try Backup Exec, or Backup Exec Lite. They are both excellent programs. I use Backup Exec to backup a 140 Gig network server every night. Been using it for 2 years, and it has yet to fail on me.

It even restores easily.

I’ve had good experiences with Backup Exec, by Veritas software. It may be overkill for you though- it lets you manage banks of tape drives over networks, etc., but it works well for me.

I concur with the two other boys … Backup Exec is a gorgeous piece of software however, if you are unable to find the cash for it, using backup for NT and the heinous command utility winat works just fine … this is how I used to schedule backups for servers.

We have a script on one of our servers to run NT Back up. It’s set to run every M, T, W, Th, F – if you send me an email to remind me, I will go hunt that script down.

Nice thing is, it’s free.

The other two servers have Backup Exec and Backup Exec for Exchange.

The server with NT Backup has Backup Exec but the software is messed up. I have been waiting on the engineers I work with to get it fixed.

I meant to say, it’s automated, you don’t need to start it manually.
