Considering the vast amounts of time I spend online, and the enormous amount of time I spend reading Pratchett, you’d think I’d have heard a whisper, a rumour, a hint of the Diskworld convention in Melbourne that’s being held this very weekend (starting this very day!), but this vital piece of information managed to completely elude me until 9:30pm last night. By 11:30, however, I’d established the availability of tickets, booked into the hotel, arranged to stay with my brother, charmed some money out of the evil ex and later today, I’m taking myself off to Nullus Anxietas, the first Diskworld convention to be held outside the UK!
Holy crap, I’m so excited, and I have abso-freaking-lutely no idea what to expect, having never attended anything remotely like this in my life. I’ve got such a busy day ahead of me - I’m working this morning, have a new bed being delivered around lunch time and then I need to spend two hours on the train to get to the convention, and I need to pack as the sum total of the contents of my suitcase at present are: 3 Terry Pratchett books for signing(Nightwatch, because it’s my favourite, Where’s My Cow? because I just really dig that book and Thud! because it’s kind of like a brother to Where’s My Cow?).
So, any word on what to expect? Advise? Envy?
